would IB ever consider offering a 'level 2' data connection which could be paid for. on its own fiber. where users who want/need every tick realtime as if we were directly connected to the exchanges? and are willing to pay for the improvement? maybe also dealing with the msgs / second limit...

there is no arb on the interbank feeds since they reflect the fair value. from what iv seen. its possible that the system is designed so arbs dont exist. or its also possible that institutional clients keep it in check far quicker than a retailer trader could.

Hah. I hate when 'brokers' talk about unethical trading (except trading on prior knowledge). If you and someone agree on a price and exchange something. There is nothing unethical about it. Iv heard arguments that it prevents them from being good market makers (complete bs).

About 3-4 days of making money off their laggy / spiky dealing desk feed, I received and email stating they were 'upgrading my account'. :p I closed my account with them and never tried their no dealing desk feed because I was annoyed at the time. They culled my golden goose.

Long story short. I noticed that their dealing desk quotes kept drifting off market (possibly to shake out stops). I took advantage of it and they booted me to non dealing desk tout suite. Here I was thinking I was providing them a service by fixing their quotes by forcing them back on...

wrong. trust me. the quotes coming off the dealing desk go off market all the time.

i sometimes trade news events through IB and as expected get pretty significant slippage on my market orders or I miss the liquidity for my limit orders. For trading forex would you say currenex would be more likely to get my limit orders filled or my market orders with less slippage during news...

can you define times to shutdown and restart TWS? multiple times a day?

ok. I'll play around with AutoIt. IB should really get their act together. There is no reason why TWS->IB connections should'nt be bulletproof.

hmm thats something ill have to look into. not 100% sure how to kill TWS from my app, i usually dont waste any of my time programming stuff for windows. can an AutoIt script close a running app easily? or will the windows have to be positioned correctly for the mouse clicks etc.

I'll play devil's advocate. Paying someone to search for an edge or for an edge they've already found makes as much (or more) sense than searching for the edge yourself. As for learning the market and how to trade. Using a well defined (and statistically proven) edge needs unattached...
