    The Science of Technical Analysis

No, it's the Grand Theory of Everything (Markets). It's beyond Super-string theory. :p

    The Science of Technical Analysis

LOL... Is this thread about you and your goals? But I'll bite a bit... So you observe the market THEN... You use the tools to exploit it. Can you explain to us, how you observe the market before the tools? Or are you saying that the "MARKET IS the CHART", if so... care to explain...

    The Science of Technical Analysis

Really? I think it's full of semantical ironies. What he's saying is you can use the same TA but applying it differently. There is no "types of TA", there is "types of users". ... meaning... "TA is subjective, and value comes the person applying it." ... meaning... Scientifically...

It's still funny seeing a 1 lot trade.

    What am I missing?

Markets change. You can be trading 1 trade a day or executing 100 trades a day. Which ever the case, your sample size is limited within the tendency of "that day". 40 trades a day on NQ? Hrmmm... Are you trading a counter trend model using 1 min. (tick) data? 70-80 %Profitability...

    The Science of Technical Analysis

So how many times do we have to repeat the same conclusion. Though, I'll bite... In trading, there is very little observable constancy to base on, for running scientific methods.

Joe Doaks and ET Develop the Perfect System

Forget about the middle. That's where everyone is concerned about in trading, meaning where most of the mistakes are for losing money. You want a perfect system, not a reasonable one. Think of the ends first. A line always starts somewhere and must end at another point. Once we...

victor n. was 100% right when he said "i can't make money without taking a risk"

There is ALWAYS a risk. It's a matter of how well you control and manage the risk.

    What am I missing?

Depends.... +1600 on a single lot (100 shares) aint' much, depending on the condition (trade frequency, # of symbols traded). Especially with this volatility. 4 days of testing??? ... May work but as a system developer, I wouldn't be able to trade it.

money management based on equity curve

That is outdated information. Largely because anyone "was" able to start up a fund, with a little trading system that was "marketable" as "unique".

money management based on equity curve

Murray, It's not complex to get unfiltered data set. It's a matter of traders being lazy (sorry, but the fact that you mention it in your post, I would have to include you in it). Murray, how serious are(is) you (TradersStudio) about making money.

Joe Doaks and ET Develop the Perfect System

OK. I'm going help to get the conversation going towards a reasonable direction. Let's code/define one trading truth... Buy Low, Sell High. or.... Buy High, Sell Higher This is and will be the Perfect System if it can be coded/systemized.

    WalMart Greeter Trading System

I find it funny that the screen shot is an 1 lot trade.

day traders please explain to me

Depends on how much capital you have... Running a $50,000 account and a $50,000,000 is different. I don't agree on ranking / comparing how good a trader is just by their % returns.

    what would this strategy yield?

Less than 8%. What do you do on the up day? In the end.... You'll end up with a bunch of unallocated cash, which will lower the average return. Better the market does, the less you will be allocating money to ride the bull market.

money management based on equity curve

This topic is too broad to talk about, So far... Few examples: 1. If you're a "fully" discretionary trader, this is merely impossible to do. It's like becoming an opposite person as you are now, but if it's about signals from some system then it can be done. 2. Most "Van Tharp" or...

Intraday trading of equities on short time-frames

I would talk to a few prop. firms and ask for a remote server to be installed in their system with DMA access. What you're looking at is having the core trade engine inside the remote server, and supplementary engines or app. stuff like GUI and etc. on your own computer.

do you use other time series than price and volume within your ATS?

There's no point of PM replies for some stuff so... As mentioned a few posts back, I use discretion as part my process from my point of my skills. I am able to develop a model and trade them without adding any discretion, profitably. Simply, you can take any crap system and make it look...

Are Hedge fund strategies really that complex?

1 simple fact. Retail trader makes their conclusion too easily. They need to know the difference between luck and skills. Once they can understand and trade based solely on skills, it's a matter of time the trader will start understanding hedge fund strategies.
