Absolute markets fall quicker than rise? Any advantage for lower tf traders?

The insight is sound but there are two currents your swimming upstream into. First, as Xela mentioned there is an upward bias to the market overall. Second, the most a stock can fall is 100%, but it can go up many thousand percent.

    Could Apple buy Ford?

There are very few examples of companies from two completely different verticals merging successfully. In fact, the research shows that almost all major mergers destroy value over the long run even companies in the same field. On the flip side, remember how the whole AOL/Time Warner thing went?

Why do so many ppl trade SPX and SPY options instead of ES

One reason to trade SPX is the cash settlement. If your strategy involves holding to expiration, you need a huge amount of cash to meet the margin requirements when the ES futures are delivered to you, plus you have pin risk. With SPX you just get the cash amount the option was in the money...

    Interactive Brokers Implements Price Caps

They've done this for years, and not just limited to market orders. Try trading something like wheat futures with them, you're order will be held sometimes even if it's inside the bid/ask!

Problem with Interactive Brokers and PDT Rule

Could it be that the money hasn't cleared from your futures trade yet? When did you close the futures position?

Problem with Interactive Brokers and PDT Rule

Why does it show a margin requirement in your IB Securities Account if the only open trade you have is a futures position in VSTOXX? And no margin showed in your Futures account? BTW, if you haven't already done it you can ask them nicely once to excuse your PDT designation and they'll do it...

Has IB ever acknowledged a technical problem with TWS?

Thanks for the name of the software, sounds ripe for disruption. It's not an inherently hard thing to do at all, in fact as tractable computer problems go that ranks as one of the easier ones to accomplish.

Has IB ever acknowledged a technical problem with TWS?

Sounds like a great businesses opportunity to me, generating statements isn't rocket science. Please do name!

Are CEOs allowed to sell covered calls on stocks they own?

Pekelo, I think the answer to your question is that it depends. In general an insider would have to report all transactions on a Form 4, including options. This is generally required within 2 business days of the action (https://www.sec.gov/investor/alerts/forms-3-4-5.pdf). From an SEC...

Has IB ever acknowledged a technical problem with TWS?

For you and anyone who has these anecdotal stories of software engineers supposedly out of a job because of H-1Bs, please PM me with their details! I, and all of my colleagues running similar companies, have a very difficult time finding qualified software engineers. I'd like to call BS on these...

One devastating picture of a Wall Street trading floor says it all

The Volker Rule required all the banks to shut down their proprietary trading operations. The trading is still going on, the jobs still exist, they just aren't at UBS or in that particular building anymore.

Has IB ever acknowledged a technical problem with TWS?

I have moved on, but they did enough to piss me off that I'm going to continue to call them out on their idiocy as a public service to anyone considering them. It takes a lot to motivate me to do that, they're really the only company I feel that strongly about in a negative manner.

Has IB ever acknowledged a technical problem with TWS?

There is an absolute and total disconnect between IB's software developers and the rest of the company. I'm 99% certain that there is no process in place for "customer service" representatives to report bugs to their developers, and if there is they certainly don't use it. Their modus operandi...

CME and " Weather " Futures Markets ?

All the answers so far are to the question "who trades these". Anyone have an answer on the first part of the question, "how do you trade these"? I don't see them available at my broker (optionsxpress), and a quick scan of some other retail brokers don't show them as available trading products...

turning many Short Term Sales into long term capital gains

You can avoid the wash sale rule by simply not trading in Dec. The only way to get a long term capital gain is to hold for a year or trade futures and get 60% as long term.

Postal Service dropping mail prices for first time in 100 years - Anyone else short?

You all still snail mail envelopes, with stamp things on them? Trying to think of the last time I couldn't email, PayPal, or ACH something, coming up blank. BTW, I think the price went down because it was mandated as part of a previous price increase rather than an actual decrease in the cost...

No need to work anymore, just get a bunch of followers on social media and kick back!!

For sure it depends greatly where you're at. I had the opportunity to get out of Silicon Valley a few years ago and visit most of the country and it was eye opening how much of a bubble I’d been living in. That said, I found a lot of dynamic entrepreneurial stuff happening in not only the usual...
