    Why Was Marsman Stifled?

While it can be a fine line between idiot and cajones, botpro is pretty deep into the idiot side.

Wealthy Kids Save More for College, Thanks to the IRS

After that full circle I'm concluding that we mostly agree then!

Wealthy Kids Save More for College, Thanks to the IRS

The term you used "of ability", I'm sure not by mistake and I think that's key. I'm guessing that "of ability" to you means someone with high SAT/ACT/IQ test scores. I'm saying that the average classmate of one of my kids is going to get a much higher SAT score than that same kid if they'd grown...

My apologies, sarcasm missed on my part.

Wealthy Kids Save More for College, Thanks to the IRS

Come on now Nitro, we all know you can find an exception to any rule. We're talking about populations here. You would seem to be advocating that intelligence can come through despite any disadvantage in childhood? Do you (or would you if you don't have any) send your kids to a crappy school if...

Wealthy Kids Save More for College, Thanks to the IRS

Deut.., I'm pretty sure you agree that kids on average are going to score lower on an SAT test if they go to overcrowded West Baltimore schools that don't even have air conditioning and have to shut down for a number of un-madeup days each fall and are miserable for half the first quarter...

    Fundseeder - my experience

Globalarbtrader, First thanks for the info you've provided on this thread, it's very useful. I know that you don't want to manage OPM, however I am curious if you've been approached by anything at or through Fundseeder to do so? One of their big premises is that they've got this nebulous...

    Lexmark International Inc. (LXK) Arbitrage

There are a number of funds that do nothing but this, ARBNX is one that I've held in the past. I was bullish on the idea 5 years ago, but as you can see from the chart on this one it seems that merger arbs are pretty fairly priced by the market.

You are correct, I am. Not sure how I missed that.

Did that, it doesn't exist! Can you find it?

I'm gonna call bullshit on this simply based on the first graphic, Slate. There's no such poll posted on Slate (be happy to get a direct link if you have it), wasn't one last night either. I know you didn't make up the graphic, but whoever did clearly completely fabricated it. Is this the kind...

I was watching Predictit as much as the debate as well (we are traders after all!). Made me think there's got to be an opportunity there, even if it is only a few bucks you're allowed to trade. Seemed like very strong momentum behavior to my unschooled eye, curious what those more into that type...

    Monday Weekly options

Thanks. BTW I wanted to let you know that I've found you always provide great information here that would be impossible to find anywhere else; much appreciated.

    Monday Weekly options

I'm probably going to give the Monday weeklies a try next week. For those of you who have been trading them are you seeing about the same liquidity as the Wed weeklies, i.e. can you generally fill a nickel off the mid?

Spotify is causing a major problem for economists

This is a very real issue, although I learned about it from economists and aspiring economists 10 years ago so I'm not sure it's "baffling" them. Another place it's an issue when you look at trade deficits and surpluses. While it's easy to measure in and out of physical goods, IP and services...

    $19B fund uses technical analysis?

Large banks stopped prop trading when the Volker Rule required them to do so.

Does my order/ lot size push the market in a particular direction?

Maybe, but it's also very likely that there's lots of volume behind that 10 and they're only showing 10. In other words, I've found it very common to fill a 100 contract limit order at 1.1301 with the order book shown. The only way to know is to place the order.

    Deutsch Bank

That's why I'd advocate that you do some quick mental screens and a little digging rather than depending on easily debunked info. First off, you knew the market cap of DB, so someone telling you that Soros is short half its market cap should strike you as unusual enough to do some more research...

    Deutsch Bank

If DB's market cap is $16B, which is a number I got from your graphic btw, then how is .51% of DB's outstanding shares worth $7.5B? I'm pretty certain the math is .0051*16,000,000,000=$81.6M. Or alternately, 7 million shares of a $12 stock (again your numbers) is 7,000,000*12=$84M=$.084B. This...
