Reducing Interactive Broker trading fees with direct routing?

Of course you don't "sell" order flow to Timber Hill; TH is a subsidiary of Interactive Brokers Group so "selling" order flow would simply be transfer pricing internally among the subsidiaries and as such rather pointless. You do certainly direct order flow to Timber Hill and give them first...

How does Open Interest suggest strong resistant/support zones?

Not really. If I sell a put spread at 85/80 for example, you'll see an open interest at the 80 strike. I'm happy when the price of the stock falls below $80 because I get to keep all the credit, but I was also happy at any point the intrinsic value of the spread was below the price I sold it...

How does Open Interest suggest strong resistant/support zones?

Except that's a huge assumption that even a single one of those is a naked option. They could all be part of another hedging strategy or actually indicate the opposite since bull put spreads and bear call spreads are a thing.

Can't fill large option orders for 5-10 minutes (IB paper-trading account)

I guess it's not if you're doing way OTM options, buying or selling, but that's a fool's errand for sure if you don't know what you're doing.

    Deutsch Bank

What specific "derivative instruments on the balance sheet" are you referring to, cause I'm looking at their balance sheet and not seeing a lot. Or are you just assuming they're there like Spectre2007 earlier in this thread? You really should read the whole thread, btw.

Can't fill large option orders for 5-10 minutes (IB paper-trading account)

It's common to have a new member with $5000 to their name and no trading experience come on this board and ask questions about what will happen when they make multi-million dollar trades. You seem to fit this profile, so he was poking a little light fun at you for "trading size" i.e. making big...

Can't fill large option orders for 5-10 minutes (IB paper-trading account)

I'm pretty sure their paper trading account only executes your trades based on actual trades for limit orders, i.e. if you enter something inside the spread for 1000 contracts and 4 contracts trade at that size they give your paper account 4 contracts. Obviously the paper trading account...

Reducing Interactive Broker trading fees with direct routing?

There isn't really a good answer to your question because it depends so much on what you're trading. In general the prices on the various venues reflect the benefits and costs of trading on those venues, it's a basic no risk arb situation that prevents any major imbalance. It could be that in...

Republican Trump says 70 percent of federal regulations 'can go'

That's funny, when I worked in government all the regulations we promulgated were the result of a law that directed us to do so. A law passed by Congress and signed by the President. A law that the President can't, in our current democratic system, unilaterally repeal. Could it be that these...

How the IRS Helps the Rich Get Richer

You asked "Why should a man have to pay more money in taxes each year without an increase in benefits?" Well we can quibble all day about how much in federal dollars goes to transportation, public safety, and education (a substantial amount of federal dollars to to every one of the areas you...

How the IRS Helps the Rich Get Richer

Actually if you build a high end high-rise in NY, for example, you do benefit far more from a whole host of government services. For example, all the public safety (fire, police...) that make the neighborhood where your high-rise is located attractive are all paid for by tax dollars. You're...

Germany’s BaFin mulls banning margin forex and binary options trading

No doubt, although last I was in Australia they still did the liquids thing on international flights but not domestic, which is about as asinine and irrational as the ban itself!

Germany’s BaFin mulls banning margin forex and binary options trading

The U.S. govt has made it pretty hard for a U.S. resident to trade any binary provider other than the regulated Nadex and Cantor exchanges, so it's definitely doable. Between blocking your methods of funding your account and scaring the semi-legit guys straight it's nearly impossible to fund and...

Why doesn't the fed adjust rates more often, but in smaller increments?

I don't think they're claiming it's a cunning plan, he/she are just asking if there's a good reason they hadn't thought of why you wouldn't do it. When I stopped and thought about it I couldn't think of a good reason why not, and it appears there aren't any forthcoming. Of course actual rates on...

Why doesn't the fed adjust rates more often, but in smaller increments?

I don't think it's such a bad idea actually. Everyone hangs on the every word of the Fed's intentions, why not actually move it a little bit instead of throwing out an obfuscation that normal people can't understand and even the oracles disagree on the true meaning of? Note: I fully support the...

    Day/Swing Trading, FINRA, and Employment

Yep, show me the law that says they can't? You don't have to work for a given company, and one that arbitrarily restricted you from doing things would find themselves at the bottom of the talent heap pretty rapidly, but nothing's stopping them. In fact, many pro athletes do have restrictions...

    Day/Swing Trading, FINRA, and Employment

Listen, if I'm your employer and I don't want you to do things that impact my company negatively, I'm going to tell you and you're going to comply or leave. It's that simple. If you want to work for a professional firm and wear torn jeans and a T-shirt they're going to ask you to leave, despite...

TLT - deep ITM options and dividends

You do not get total returns. You get the daily change of the index, which could be a very very different thing. As in, the index could be up over the course of a year but your 2x leveraged fund could be down. If you don't understand this aspect of leveraged ETFs your essentially just buying...

Short Sellers Should Not Rely On Brokers For IRS Reporting

They do reconcile for probably 98% of Americans with brokerage accounts, which allows the IRS to largely eliminate millions of returns from potential audits. Unfortunately the flip side of that is that you're probably more likely to be audited if you're the remaining 2%, but if you're the IRS...

    Semiconductor ETF Question

Since you can always create more units of an ETF the short interest isn't telling you the same thing as it is for a stock. You really need to tally up the outstanding shares of all the companies in the index, multiplied by their weightings, to have an apples to apples comparison of the percent...
