Can somebody please educate me on where US Debt comes from?

Which also is a completly arbitrary thing to tie the world's currency supply to and also has very little intrinsic value. It's insane to live in a world where we have money supply expansion because of the discovery of a new gold deposit and stagnation if no new supplies are found, that's pretty...

Caspersen Sentenced to 4-Year Prison Term For $38.5M Fraud

I'd conclude that some pretty successful people attended Harvard, you did not, and you've got a pretty big chip on your shoulder.

GBP Margin Requirements - US Brokers - Nov. 7

Why should brokers be expected to lose money when an underlying moves beyond the collateral posted for a futures position? If you were a broker would you expect that you couldn't increase collateral requirements when volatility made it possible that your customers could lose more money than they...

    I stand corrected then, sorry.

Can somebody please educate me on where US Debt comes from?

The world economy isn't a zero sum game, poker is. If it was, we'd all be fighting over the two chickens and a wildebeest that the first 2 humans had.

My personal experience shows 3x etf is not a fair game

Actually UWTI is only invested in futures (http://www.velocitysharesetns.com/uwti) not options. USO, the 1X fund that tracks the same underlying, is also invested entirely in oil futures (http://www.unitedstatescommodityfunds.com/fund-details.php?fund=uso). So both the 1X and 3X are exposed to...

    In that case, definitely agree!

    Rip VW a new one

I don't know that I consider Porsche, Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Ducati, MAN and Scania to be terrible products. SEAT, Škoda and Volkswagen "clean" diesels you can have, but luckily they only make up a small (and now shrinking) part of Volkswagen Group's revenue.

Can somebody please educate me on where US Debt comes from?

Translation, I don't have a good answer for you so I just tell you it's "not worth my time". Then throw in a "comprende" in there as a good final insult, because that's the way Achilles28 rolls. Every country in the world uses a fractional reserve program, so criticizing such a system as being...

Can somebody please educate me on where US Debt comes from?

Not confused at all. The entire world uses a fractional reserve currency system. Since switching to a fractional reserve system, the world has experienced unprecedented growth in pretty much any quality of life metric you care to measure. It appears that some here see that as bad and want to...

Can somebody please educate me on where US Debt comes from?

You failed to answer my question or acknowledge my point, resorting to calling me a "shill or a moron" because I don't share your opinion. I know the point and the question are inconvenient for you, but your response is really just tacit admission that you have no response.

How do very high net worth accounts trade?

Successful people understand risk concentration. That's not resting on your laurels, that's diversifying your income streams across uncorrelated or mostly uncorrelated asset classes to reduce variance. Successful people over the long term in finance understand basic prob stats!

The 20 Highest-Paid Boards of Directors in the S&P 500

Not sure what your point is? If you want to get people who are earning several million a year to sit on your board and devote substantial time and expertise in overseeing your company as well as exposing themselves to personal liability and reputational risk if the company goes south you're...

Can somebody please educate me on where US Debt comes from?

A couple items t If the most prosperous economy in the history of the world with the corresponding longest lifespans, lowest infant mortality, highest education levels... is a scam then I want more of that "scam". What do you want, a return to feudal dark ages, cause at least everyone paid in...

    US President election and Trading

Something to be said for that approach, worked great for me in 2008 which I caught about 20% before it bottomed out but by averaging in I ended up in a pretty good spot.

    US President election and Trading

Overall I'd tend to agree. However depending on your asset class I do want to point out that it's not exactly the case that nothing changed with Brexit, as you can see from the GBP/USD chart below. While the FTSE bounced back, the Pound hasn't.

Absolutely, my limited intellect bows before your superior math skills. As I said, go get em. Only wish I could be the counterparty to your trades!

My personal experience shows 3x etf is not a fair game

Sure thing, knock yourself out. I also highly recommend shorting VIX futures in that case. Those things "decay" like nobody's business.....most of the time.

My personal experience shows 3x etf is not a fair game

Patience Sig, patience. I was very specifically showing a scenario where a portfolio short the supposedly "decaying" leveraged fund and long the unleveled ETF in equal ratios lost value overall. I very specifically stated that this scenario is one in which the underlying goes up and down by a...

My personal experience shows 3x etf is not a fair game

Yes, if you are doing an apples to apples comparison you'd have to re-balance at the end of the day every day. And it would create a lot of commissions and as I stated you'd get no-where because there is no "decay" on the 3x ETF. And as I pointed out with my math example, if you just hold it for...
