    Lufthansa / Airplane shares

As Richard Branson said, the best way to become a millionaire is to start out a billionaire and launch an airline.

    Coal Trading

Quote from the article referring to the mine closures that pretty much sums it up “For the entire time I lived here, they said this was the one thing that wouldn’t happen,” she said." Denial is apparently more than just a river in Egypt. I get that they might not understand $gas<$coal being as...

Thank you, pretty much the perfect answer that addresses all the questions/issues!

I get and respect that you're a non-confrontational kind of person. And to make myself a better person I try to figure out how things look from your point of view. So I'm genuinely curious why you would think providing accurate and actionable information on the OPs question on potential...

IB users who lend out their long shares..

Ironically I'm doing exactly the same thing as you. You asked them to post on their website the impact of a Chapter 11 on clients. I provided here to the person who asked the impact on clients of a Chapter 11 and corrected some misleading information provided by the company representative. The...

IB users who lend out their long shares..

The point is that someone asked a point blank question about the potential downsides of lending out shares. In fact it was the original poster, in the original post! ("1. are there any disadvantages of lending out the shares?"). I am simply answering the question that started the thread. That's...

IB users who lend out their long shares..

I can see where you're coming from and I might be inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt except: -We had this exact same discussion here on ET where they engaged in the exact same obfuscation strategy (https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/ib-yield-enhancement-program-question.301819/)...

Why have I never seen any offer of money manager here?

At this point I have to believe you're just being obtuse because you can't be that dense. There is some work involved in knowing what "balance" of an ETF is needed depending who you are and where you are in life. If you're a 25 year old who just sold your company to Facebook and have your entire...

IB users who lend out their long shares..

Dude, the whole freaking thread was about the difference between SIPC and FDIC and which one applied. As was the last thread where you did exactly the same thing. That was a minor "detail" you couldn't be bothered to understand? Are you freaking kidding me? If you're going to do a half-ass job...

Why have I never seen any offer of money manager here?

Well congratulations then, you're better than the top 1% of financial professionals. Or you've been through one downturn and lucked out or you don't have audited returns and can make up whatever shit you want. Seriously, if you're really that good then there's no need for you to hire a money...

Surreal - Tesla’s market cap is now bigger than Ford’s was at its peak

Actually the thesis is almost identical. For Tesla the cars pay the bills for the battery and battery technology for electricity markets, and the potential size of electricity storage markets dwarf the size of electric car markets. I actually work in the electricity markets side of things and...

Surreal - Tesla’s market cap is now bigger than Ford’s was at its peak

I will be the first to admit I had exactly the same feeling about them back then. I'm glad I didn't have enough money to put a short on them! Learning moment for me.

We all see what you did there. I specifically asked if the cash held in escrow had FDIC protection. You reply with a bunch of gobbledygook about SPIC protection and again fail utterly and completely to answer a simple yes or no question about FDIC protection! Then have the gall to insist you're...

Taleb: Skin in the Game --- Book review

If I told you that I've got a guy who is going to manage your hedge fund and there's two ways we can compensate him. Method one he only makes money if you make money and the more money he makes you the more money he makes and if he doesn't make you any money he gets nothing. The other method he...

Why have I never seen any offer of money manager here?

First off, you're asking a money manager to do something that isn't their profession. You don't go to a car mechanic and ask them to give you a hip replacement because they work on mechanical things. What you're asking a money manager to do simply isn't their job, no matter how much you seem to...

Surreal - Tesla’s market cap is now bigger than Ford’s was at its peak

Plenty of companies spent years building market share before turning a profit. Amazon might be a company you've heard of? No real profit for nearly a decade, now nearly a trillion dollar market cap. Would you have assigned zero value to the company in 1999-2001? BTW, Tesla has had 5 profitable...

Taleb: Skin in the Game --- Book review

I'd add that I was also disappointed that Taleb latched onto only one subset of a much larger issue and didn't seem to understand that he was missing the bigger picture. The real issue is misalignment of incentives. Often, ensuring "skin in the game" is an excellent way to align incentives...

Hedge Street. But it was always electronic, it actually was originally out of Silicon Valley (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadex#History) I never worked with or for them but did meet with their founder shortly after their shutdown and sale while I was in grad school to get some advice on the...

IB users who lend out their long shares..

They can only lend your shares when you're using margin. Otherwise they have to ask your permission (which usually requires they share a little of that cash cow with you). You better believe they lend out every last share they can from their margin customers before they come to you though!
