    EEM Short

Hmmm, I think a better hedge for FXI or EEM longs would be calls on Yen futures.

Morgan Stanley not hedging its financing commitments to LBOs ?

All anyone on Wall Street has learned from August is: double down and wait for the Fed.

GS a short here at 212.95

You could well be right, not going to let this trade go too far against me before getting out.

GS a short here at 212.95

Taking a nibble. Looks like short covering is done and current level unsustainable.

    EEM Short

If you are limited to trading funds agreed, but otherwise the fact that it offers only EOD pricing is not good. Remember that the recent intraday low on the EEM was 111.41 yet it closed at 119 that day. Those in the DXESX lost out on a great deal of the downward move.

    EEM Short

I have family in Pudong that are getting almost DAILY calls from realtors looking to buy their high end condos (really townhouses but called condos, new condos built 3 years ago). The price is 2.5 times what they paid and 50% higher than calls they were getting a year ago. While occupancy has...

    EEM Short

Decision time- close the trade for a loss or hold on? Yes I know the stop was hit this AM on open but I didn't take it and I just added FXI short at 174.72 (looking for 145) All signs point to an end of the run for EM and China but as history shows the end of the run is often when the most...

Is The Real Estate Market At A Bottom?

Whoever wrote this must have a home they are desperate to sell. I my area affluent Boston Metro house prices have come down somewhat but nothing much is moving. When I moved to the area a few years ago there were no houses under $600K in my town. Today there are about 30 between $400 and $500K...

Yes you are right, considering what happened to other shorts this week I am feeling very lucky to have taken home a profit on the trade.

There is a limit to this. At some level of the $ either the manufacturers in the EM will not be able to stay in business or US corporations will have to give up some of their margin. Right now the way it works is we have a monopsony environmnet where large firms like Walmart buy from several...

Satyajit Das:Bear Market of epic Proportions

The later is more likely if the $ craters. This is one of the risks of playing a global contraction by shorting US Equities, you may be right in real terms but make nothing due to the $ falling and US equities staying flat or even rising but less than the % the $ declines as has already been...

True inflation helps those with debts but only if they have a job and their income keeps up with inflation. Look at Argentina for an example of how currency collapse can be a negative even though it erases debt. This is only a guess but if you charted prices at Walmart over the last two year...

This may have been true in the past when we had a significant manufacturing base and were not competing against countries where people work for less than 1USD an hour (in the past these countries had the cheap labor but not the mnaufacturing infrastructre but now they have both). Today the...
