The down trend is over? Now we'll have a sideways market?

Because not having the uptick rule encourages index arbitrage which in turn provides liquidity to fund managers and additional volume to the exchange.

South Africa ....a country going to hell !!!

I have been to the last 5, the final in the last one, but I will be watching this next one on TV. Nothing to do ith prejudice and everything to do with a bunch of rich folks going to a poor country with high rate of violent crime being a bad trade.

MEAT needs to be taxed to the max - modern meats are evil....

The best advice I ever heard on diet, excersize, and generally how to live life came from my now 98 year old grandfather who is still mentally sharp and as ambulatory as many men in their late 70s. Everything in moderation.

MEAT needs to be taxed to the max - modern meats are evil....

I read the other day in the NYT that if Americans cut back meat consumption by 20% it would have the equivalent green effect of trading your SUV in for a prius. The article also said that 30% of earths land is given over to animal production. A book I highly recommend is Pollen's "Omnivore's...

    Does it do anything?

Thanks, it would explain why they don't care about inflation. When inflation fears are high no one wants to own the long term bonds and money flows to the short end of the curve. It will help people to refinance in to another ARM and will encourage refincing from fixed rates to arms. Growth...

    Does it do anything?

Supposedly it allows the credit markets to start functioning again and staves off a bunch of CDO defaults that would have a large impact on the banks. I think too much credibility has been lost and any action is coming too late. Its going to take a long time before trust is restored. The...
