Classic Double Top Just Formed in Dow!!!

Feels good to know that a punk like me shares the same "intuition" as a great like Steinheardt, too bad the similarity does not extend to his returns as well! :D There are too many smart money guys with this same "intuition" so if you are fully vested in the notion that the market is just...

What happens if the US Dollar breaks support

A deflationary environment hurts everyone, though it is true it hurts the US least. If we get such an environment the gold bugs will be rewarded (though not sure about $2000!). Either way EM are going to get hit hard and Europe too though less so. Wealth is an insulator in an deflationary...

What happens if the US Dollar breaks support

There comes a point where the $ gets low enough to seriously impact EM to the point that it kills their profit margins (especially given that commodity prices are not declining with the $), and reduces demand for their products. At some point this stalls the EM and given their nose bleed levels...

    Tricky Day*

This is text book stuff. Keep the major index working while you unload your small caps to people who are fooled in to thinking the market is still strong. It is a risk aversion trade too, get out of the less liquid stuff in to the very liquid and easy to hedge big caps and indeicies. Finally, if...

    I just don't understand why...

Fair enough. I was responding to the OP generally, but also to the many posters on ET who take issue with a trade soley on the basis of top picking, alone a suprious reason for questioning a trade. As far as having an opinion and being married to it, I would agree that is not helpful...

    I just don't understand why...

Last time I checked, other than selling time, your only options were to go long or short an instrument. If that doesn't require picking a direction in some time frame and some instrument then you must know something I don't. Don't you guys realize that statistically speaking someone picking...

Inflection Point (Also, Tax Code Should Be Tossed In the Trash- Flat Tax Needed)

Are all you flat tax advocates willing to give up your mortgage interest deductions? Personally I think it is a great idea as long as there are no loopholes that can be squeezed through and that all income (cap gains too) is included in the equation.

Thanks. Yes, that's why I stay away from small biotechs for the most part, its virtually impossible to know what is going on, and who is pushing the stock around as this one has been. VPHM was another one that was obviously manipulated before it sought new financing.

incredible 1.14 mil housholds with over $5 mil assets

I can beleive it. Anyone who travels, dines, goes to shows, or buys items that cater to this demographic knows that demand far exceeds supply. Prices will go higher too as even at the current high prices things are often sold out, no subscriptions available, etc

UK inflation highest in 10 years, US cpi below

Do they account for food and energy unlike the US? According to the US numbers I must be living in a an inflation bubble because here in the NE prices have risen this past year and I know food doesn't count but food items have risen anywhere between 25 and 50%. Maybe they are factoring in a...

How does the counterfeiting of any currency hurt the backer of that currency? In the case of a young company having access to funds through its equity is crucial, especially in a business where aggressive growth (funded by equity offerings) can make a significant difference in market share...
