Even us "retail traders" had an easy short at the bounce back to the 20ema for a test of the bottom. Admittedly this is not much of a spread but on YM it was right at 20 points which is good enough for me.

Today was pretty bad but there have been some nice daily swings lately. Maybe you need to lower your timeframes and go for fewer points. Looking over the past 5 trading days they were all 80 point ranges or more on YM.

Quotetracker has pressure bars that you can add to the chart to show you the buy/selling pressure. Their indicator page says: Pressure Bars This indicator shows the ratio of the volume of trades going off at ask vs. trades going off at bid for each period of time.

jz May I ask what exactly you mean by scalping? Are you talking about trying to capture the spread? I dont scalp but occasionally a trade will turn into a "scalp" and Ive never had a problem getting in and out fast with IB, a good frontend and api charting and this costs practically nothing.

What I would do if I could get away with it is fade the losers. Since most of your accounts would be losers just take the other side of their trades. Any traders who are profitable you send to the exchange and settle for the commissions.

I trade YM exclusively. I usually give up the spread on entry and about half the time on exits which averages out to $10 savings per rt over ES. Over a thousand rt's thats $10,000.
