My journey: Stocks to eminis, scalping to strategy

Anybody have any suggestions on how I can do this? I am using Ensign and Quotetracker. I dont see a way to invert a chart with either.

If I remember right they simply use the first few minutes of RTH as a gauge.

My journey: Stocks to eminis, scalping to strategy

The market invariably gives you one or two trades a day that are no-brainers. My problem is still boredom so I try to scalp during the day to keep my interest up but it is a breakeven venture at best.

    Is Vol. Really Important ?

Exactly. For my trading I would substitute the word setups for equities in the above sentence. I see a possible setup but the volume pattern does not conform to what I'm looking for I will probably not take the trade. Ive found that when volume confirms the setup it has better odds of working...

    Is Vol. Really Important ?

The slow downward drift is something that has always fascinated me and one of the reasons that I lean heavily to the short side but am not clear on what causes it. I just think of it as gravity.

    Is Vol. Really Important ?

Of course. Rising volume by itself is not enough. As in every situation there are a number a factors that have to set up a trade for me. We were nearing completion of an ascending triangle which is one of my favorites. I was waiting for it to clear the 15min 20ema which it finally did about the...

    Is Vol. Really Important ?

The volume on YM is miniscule compared to ES. It is hard for me to understand how smart money would be trading such small size as very few large orders go by. Are they doing their business in the AON pits or some other method that does not show up on the time and sales?

    Is Vol. Really Important ?

Youre definitely not an a**. Comparing disparate views to arrive at something new is what learning is all about. The problem with the first instance you mention is that you had no warning. It broke then fell back. You had a volume spike followed by a lower bar which was a warning that it wasnt...

    Is Vol. Really Important ?

Friday another great signal when ES made a higher high on lower volume along with YM making a lower high was a clear signal that a top may be in place giving you a great low risk entry.

    Is Vol. Really Important ?

To ignore volume is throwing money away, imo. It is constantly sending signals of all types. When I saw this rising volume on thursday I jumped all over this breakout.

Who here trades "retail" full time

Very interesting. Here is another quote: Pro vs. non-pro trading status Are you registered with any state, federal, or international securities agency or self-regulatory body? Are you engaged as an Investment Advisor? Are you employed by an organization that is exempt from U.S...

Who here trades "retail" full time

Hmm. But you must claim professional status to get all your tax benefits. Can you be a pro on your tax returns and still claim nonpro with your broker? Just curious.
