    Poker and the Beginning Trader

Thanks to this thread I have been playing poker online for two weeks now. I have withdrawn my original funds and have three different accounts funded with winnings so I am in a no risk trade. I have seen no signs of cheating and had no trouble taking my money out of the sites. The low limit...

Them It would be pretty easy to set up multiple accounts and get two or three seats at the same game but the poker sites are well aware of this and watch for repeating patterns of same players in the same games. About the only way to collude is to trap somebody between your bots with raises...

    Poker and the Beginning Trader

I have always found poker to be a cyclic game. I usually know within an hour if I will make any money. If your not catching any cards or your hands are not holding up, change games. If you change games two or three times and still cant get anything going, quit for awhile. I almost always make my...

I would definitely not go down $50 in a .50/1.00 game in one session. If I got down $15 or $20 I would stop at least for a few hours. You do not want to take big losses in low limit games and $50 in a .50/1.00 game is a big loss relatively speaking.

Good post Ron. Right on the money. There did seem to be a problem with Pokerroom.com today. I got on again awhile ago and played for a little bit but the connection was so slow I quit. I think they must be having server problems.

    Poker and the Beginning Trader

I doubt seriously that it is any easier to make serious money playing poker than it is trading. I would be willing to bet that the percentage of traders making a living at it and the percentage of poker players making a living at it are pretty similiar. There is only so much room at the top of...

Single most important book for a trader

For a short term trader I would have to go with "Street Smarts". For a longer term trader I would pick "Trading for a Living".

    Sunday Musings

Been playing poker most of the day. Once again I must confess my love for The Law of Averages. I believe in a supreme being and I believe in miracles but I know that 99.9999999% of the time the law of averages rules. Stay on the right side of the odds and you will find happiness.:)

hii Keep us updated on your progress. I have no doubt the lower limit games can be beat by anyone with sufficient discipline because Im doing it but I dont see making a living at it unless you are very good and can move up to the higher limits. Most professional limit players average maybe...

Man that was a blast. Thats an even better deal for a buck than 1010220.:) I only made it to the third round. Had 4 of a kind in the early rounds but could not catch anything after that. Got knocked out with 3 tens. I hope they do that again.

Best way to start trading Futures?

I totally agree with db's post. Linda does both. She is continually teaching and also making realtime calls which are very good. A small trader will have problems though because she often averages into positions and partials out of positions and this is an integral part of her method, so for...

Best way to start trading Futures?

paur Ive been in Linda's room several times. I was assuming, perhaps incorrectly that you wanted to trade commodities too. She trades them all and is very good at it. I am sure there are a number of people in that room making good money trading off her calls. There are usually only one or...

    Big Players Love this chop?

I dont trade after 11:30 but I do monitor the market looking for some type of playable pattern. So far I havent found anything. It does appear to me, though, that there is some manipulation going on. It seems to me that the big players love this afternoon chop. When price gets down to the lower...
