I can't seem to get a straight answer from openecry as to whether or not there's a charge (e.g. monthly fee) to use their API with my openecry trading account. There's a fee for the demo account which is understandable, but is there a fee for customers? Why is this so hard to get an answer...

It's about the same minimum in Euros adjusted for the exchange rate (for example it was $5500 for GPB). That's a good point, I'd probably want to convert all my cash, not just half....of course that's a different thing....

Assuming I wanted to put on a JPY/AUD carry trade, but was concerned about adverse currency moves, couldn't I just buy the appropriate cross-rate futures contract at CME to hedge myself and just keep the interest? Or would the cross-rate futures contract already take the carry trade interest...

I assume you mean the sampling period, correct? It was my understanding from the TWS API yahoo group that previously IB sampled prices every 300 ms (so about 10 times per every 3 seconds). So now we're getting 10 times per second .... COOL!!!! Now if you can get TWS to control-alt-R itself...

You DO NOT need to subscribe to market data to trade a contract. It may not be a great idea, but it works.

IB states their servers will be up at 12 EST noon on Sunday. I guess this doesn't apply to papertrading accounts though :( I do think TWS could be changed to check if the servers are down (even just by checking the time) and give a message saying you can't log in until noon sunday -- that...

I can't follow you....a strategy filled with "might" or "could" doesn't seem all that useful (at least to someone like me with zero ability to predict market moves). Can you make a list of rules (that do not leave anything to interpretation) to illustrate the point you're trying to make...

According to IB's website ICE only accepts limit orders, so all other orders (including stops) are simulated. So if I place a stop on ICE, I assume it won't be visible on ICE, but will it be visible in IB's market depth (visible to IB customers)?

I'm making fun of their reluctance (or sloth) in making NYBOT contracts on ICE available. It took forever to get softs. And where the f*** is the dollar index?????????? The only thing that will speed them up is volume moving to ICE. If they get hit in the pocketbook (or purse) they...
