    Why Hasn't Bernanke Resigned?

In April 2005, Greenspan was euphoric about the subprime derivatives - mortgage backed securities and new murky risk obfuscations... If there is going to be accountability in the FED, Greenspan should be flogged publicly... Bernanke is a puppy with a gloomy look wishing if only he were on...

    EURUSD 1.7000 Today

1.70 EURUSD is a possibility next year, or maybe this December if all hell breaks loose... However, right now - EURUSD seems an OK buy between 1.4650 and 1.4500 ... it seems very careful in its path, but I don't see it going below 1.45 even with a bailout package right now. Serious...

Even the Afghans think the US is shallow minded...

acronym, the Pashtuns have always been separate, and close to Iran. They got squeezed between the British and Russia. Then the wars that followed ended in the Durand line... and the current border. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Durand_Line

    Bush speaking tonight about bailout....

And look at the other bright side - there are a lot less people waiting to share money. Also, with all the infrastructure destruction and private property destruction - as well as all the human cost, past and future ... it doesn't look like something I'd recommend for other nations. Remember...

THEY WANT MAMA TO MAKE IT ALL BETTER! Rep Kaptur

Bernanke looks totally resigned nowadays. Paulson looks like the "tough CEO" part with a angry face. After the Cold War peace dividend, the US made a lot of money - and Greenspan allowed fraudulent murky debt assets be part of a corrupt lucrative new market that has cost the world roughly USD...

Now is the Time to Resist Wall Street's Shock Doctrine

Naomi Klein is a really smart and insightful woman. Impressive stuff that she writes, and I've read a number of her articles on her website. Like this one, but I think Bush stuck his thumb somewhere else yesterday judging by the look in his eyes...

Even the Afghans think the US is shallow minded...

Afghans and Pakistanis are related - same tribes etc - it was just the British who randomly drew a border between them.

THEY WANT MAMA TO MAKE IT ALL BETTER! Rep Kaptur

She tells it like it is... The Bush snippet on the end always gets me. Anyone should look into http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Managerial_state , James Burnham and Neoconservatism ... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elite_theory - It's all really cosy like. www.anglospherechallenge.com :)

Secret defense bill slipped through the house today

ken__0, nothing like a few war veterans shell-shocked and traumatized to handle civilian security... just like a walk in the park. Dispersing crowds gathering, looking out for snipers on the rooftops, not letting eyes go off mothers with baby wagons - could be a suicider ... ah, they are...

China asks local lenders not to lend to U.S. banks

ChaosNSX, superb snippet of Marcy Kaptur. Wonder if she gets the corrupt colleagues on board her suggested bill. She sure secured her re-election. I guess honest people get sadly little air-time or coverage anywhere. When a news organization is owned by a wealthy few, managers, editors and...

Scew the children, Save the McMansions

IShopAtPublix, the health care services and products have had a much stronger price increase than many other sectors - that makes for some uncanny future in geriatrics.

McCain has totaly lost his mind!

What mind? McCain has a brain? Never seen any sign of it. I think he was plastered together from some cancerous growth and is on remote control from some republican big wigs... McCain never says the right thing, he is so awkward and seems like he is totally unpredictable - incoherent.

Should we be able to vote ET members and moderators "off the island"?

The "problem" with voting off members, is that first - they can just come back through a proxy, even if they are IP-banned. Second, it's not exactly "democracy" to decide which babies to kill because you don't like them... You sound like the lord of the flies or something. :)

    Don't watch CNBC, watch CNN!

Second that on Bloomberg TV... Better yet - have a Thomson Financial stream AND Bloomberg AND Reuters... Forget the other news when trading, they are just distractions.

A sense the housing market has bottomed.

It is getting revamped. Don't worry the US economy is fundamentally strong. They know what they are doing. The political "leadership" are smart, honest, hard working people that are in your corner - always. You can count on them to fix all your worries... Now, where was that glass of Xanax... :D

    Bush speaking tonight about bailout....

Bush looked scared and he added to the sense of panic quite well - so I guess he did his job. When he came to explain what the bailout will be doing he failed miserably, and it was muddled as a dirt pie. It seems like people are right - trust your instincts and let the turkey come to roast...

    Preparing for financial armageddon poll

Living off of nature is never bad, it is even healthy mental wise to be able to "find your place in nature" and know that you can take care of your self - simple peace of mind. I tend to go windsurfing now and then, there is not a lot of fishing here and nature is kind of "dangerous" in a...

Economic woes and "bailout bill" halting election campaigns

Mav88, exactly my point about perceptions abroad. If there is something that the presidential candidates could really help out with - it would be about commitment and confidence in multilateral talks. That could keep the US economy afloat while steps are done to fix the flaws. If the inflow...

Economic woes and "bailout bill" halting election campaigns

Mav88, my point is that trust in the US economy is badly needed. Remember just how dependent the US is of foreign funding for their economy - USD 2 bn per day. Imagine that starting to falter - it would be devastating to the US.
