I had a friend that daytraded for a living for 1 year. He never made any real $.. just churned away.. Whenever we hung out.. friends and family would ask.. hows trading going?.. making big $?.. the market just rallied 200 points this week.. u must of made a killing. Then he puts on a fake smile...
Because his mentors at HLV told him that he can not trade those types of stocks.. which is OK with him because he is not trading his own money.
Ok.. now the truth.. if he was trading high priced moving stocks he can lose more $ then he is paying in commisions. As long has he trades dead...
TIF is my only EOD orderly pullback setup. stock is outperforming the market the past few months.. there are rumors of takeover.
Technically the stock broke out of nice long base.. is trading above the 50 and 200ma's and the SMA's also just crossed.
Buystop 200 TIF at 33.60. If the stock...
makes sense.. but i always am scaling around my positions.. when ever I am wrong I always lighten up.. its a good habit. I know I am never gonna be right all the time.. but I am very strict cutting my losses down.. or atleast trying to eliminate exposure.
Nice market reversal.. still long GKIS, STTS, CERN, EFD.
I scaled out 300 STTS and 100 GKIS for small losses... because market reversed I will wait until EOD to see how they close before I dump completely half my position.
I never risk more than 1% of my total portfolio as far as position size goes. I treat each trade seperately if I scale in. So if I am long 100 IBM and the stock goes up 3 points and I want to add another 100 shares.. i treat that trade seperately.. so I am risking 2% of my portfolio on the...
I usually have between 3-7 open positions. But it mainly depends on the market conditions and how my p&l does. I am a firm believer of averaging up and betting more into winners. I would rather scale up and have a huge position into a winner then diversify.
I am not running a hedge or...
I dont look for any annual return.. what ever the market gives me I take... I take it day by day .. week by week.
I only use margin when almost all of my positions are doing very well and the market as a whole is acting very well. Right now.. I am keeping things very light.
Long 300 EFD @ 22.80... Stock is pretty strong.. and its in process of building base. Could be a little longer than normal hold on this one. VOlume is pretty strong the past few days.
I do the same thing. Wide stops at first.. and then i use discretion to exit. I always have a wide fixed stop at first.. but never use a fixed target. I always scale out of my positions. I use the overall market as a clue as to how quick I exit positions and how aggressive of a position size...
