If an ex-dividend date is September 7....

You have to own the stock at least since the previous trading day of the 7th. It has nothing to do (semantically) with the opening on the 7th. If you sell the stock the previous trading day of the 7th, you won't get the dividend. If you sell the stock on or after the 7th, you will get it.

    Fastest Order Execution Futures Broker

If you are manually trading, then don't bother. The time you take to click your mouse to send an order is way more than the time any broker will take to send your order to the exchange. You may have a 0.1 sec difference between the slowest and faster broker. Your slippage is coming from you (if...

    New round lot rule

Firstly, that's a 9 months old press release. So, you'll need to do your homework and go through more recent press releases. Secondly, it impacts NMS only.

Day trading through a wi-fi connection at home?

If your router restarts frequently, then you have another problem. And where do you think you wire is plugged in?

Day trading through a wi-fi connection at home?

For manual trading (or click-trading), it doesn't matter at all. Just make sure to connect to the 5Ghz and not the 2.4 Ghz, cause the later is more easily impacted by micro-wave, wireless phone, etc.

    Visualizing Large Data Sets

Seems very cool. If you want to entertain yourself that's probably a good way to do it. But if you want to make money from the market...I don't know. And btw, Excel can support up to 1,000,000 rows. So 100,000 shouldn't be a problem.

    I did backtest my formula

Seems like some ET participants have difficulties reading and/or understanding basic English text. I've never wrote "backtesting is meaningless". Whatever bro. I'll exchange your joint for a cigar. No offence. Long live to the OP!

    I did backtest my formula

With all due respect, Yes and No. Backtesting is only one of the first steps. There are many more following that (before going live). And backtesting results by itself is meaningless if you don't do the next validation steps (as the OP did).

    I did backtest my formula

Anyone who think backtesting results has any meaning is a fool, or a newbie, or both.

    Assignment Question

Your 2 shorts are covered by you 2 long positions. So you'd be buying 87500$ of stocks/etf to sell them at 89000$.

Anyone using a 4K Monitor to trade without using Font Magnification?

LG 4K monitor. The difference between my 23" and 43" is minimal. The fonts are a bit smaller on the 43", but not that much, maybe a something like 3-4% smaller. For me, the goal to use a 4K is to be able to see more, not to be able to see bigger.

Ibkr simulated trading account to real account ??

If you have a paper account with IB, it means that you have a real trading account. You cannot just have a paper trading account without having a real account first. And angrytrader gave you how to activate your paper account once your real account is opened.

    Day Trading to Multimillionairedom

Seems like to have tried a few times without succeeding. Too bad for you. Yes, most of the day-trader 'wannabes' are losing money. Very few can do it. But some are profitable, even on the long term. I personally know a couple of them. I mean I've met them. I'm not referring to social media...

It may be just a semantic thing, but usually adding liquidity is when your order sit on the book. Buy at the ask usually remove liquidity.

    Margin question

Yep, there ain't such thing as a free lunch! Leverage is the key. If you win, you win more. If you lose, you lose more. But what's the point of trading if you lose???

    Mouse (Cord vs Cordless)

If you're worrying about the lag of wired mouse vs wireless, than you're looking at the wrong place. For sure, a wireless mouse will lag, but those microseconds will not make any difference in your trading. If you have a problem with you mouse, just change it. Wireless or wired is just a...

    Margin question

Margin with stocks has nothing to do with your stop loss or the % of your account you are risking. If your account total is $10,000 and you invest $1,228 (23 x $53.41), there won't be any margin required. If your margin is 50% and you have $10,000 in your account, it means that you'll be able to...
