    Don't mistake bear market for brains. Of course your friend has been doing great, the market has been doing nothing but going down! However, if the market turns then your friend's high leverage naked call selling is gonna wipe him(her) out!

    In Thinkorswim all you have to do is bring up the option chains and you can see straight away what that option represents - i.e. is it a standard one or adjusted for splits/mergers, weekly, quarterly and etc.

    Actually, no, it's not American vs European. All options on ETFs are American. The difference is that DIW is the normal Mar contract that expires this week, the IQX is the quarterly contract that expires at the end of the month.

    The interest rate differential is priced into options so I don't see how you could earn anything. Whatever you gain on the underlying you lose on the options.

    Volatility is scaled with the square root of time. So if you have daily volatility you multiply it by the square root of 250 to get annualized, and to get monthly from annualized you multiply the annual volatility by the square root of (1/12).
