    S&p 500

You have pretty much answered your own question. Buying Leaps (especially ITM) as a substitute for the underlying is a reasonable strategy.

    Can Anyone Please Help Me??

If you don't have enough cash to purchase the stock (assuming a long call exercise) then you get a margin call from your broker. If you don't respond then the broker would sell the shares for you.

    Option clueless beginner question

Option prices are quoted on a per option basis. So the price you see is for 1 option NOT for 1 contract. The actual price you would pay if you buy 1 contract is 8.30*100 or $830. So if the option expires 10 points ITM then it would be worth $1000 (10*100) and your profit would be $170...

    Implied Volatility

At the bottom on the right side there's a separate volatility calculator. You still have to input all the details above, but then you can calculate IV by entering the option price. You can also go directly to ivolatility.com.

    a question on implied volatility

You can just look at a volatility chart (e.g. VIX chart) and see whether your assumption holds or not. I'd say generally it is true that the vol spikes up very quickly and then takes some time to settle back down.

    regulations tougher on options?

I wouldn't say it's tougher. It's different due to the different nature of the product. And I don't see how limited life span fits into regulation. Limited life span is just one of the characteristics of the product. If they didn't have that then they wouldn't be options and some things that...

IV increase of SPX otm puts

The IV of the 1065 put increased over the past 4 months because the market went up and the put moved along the skew curve (i.e. it is now further OTM than it was 4 months ago). To partially hedge it you can convert the put into a put spread.

    Trading with yourself

If it's by accident then I wouldn't worry too much. If you do it on purpose then you may get in trouble.

    I went long puts.

By selling the stock or writing calls he/she would've limited the upside and in case of calls wouldn't have much protection. Buying puts essentially converts the long stock position into long calls, which is a good way to play the potential continuation of the uptrend, while limiting the...

    I went long puts.

Buying puts to lock in gains and set up a floor is definitely a good idea if you are worried about potential downside.

    question about an 110 call

Your post is a bit inconsistent. In the title you mention a 110 call and then in the text you talk about 1180 call. So I'm going to assume you are talking about SPX Apr 1180 call, which was 18.10 bid at 19.60 at yesterday's close. SPX was 1196.48. So the call has 16.48 in intrinsic value and...

Maybe I was just unlucky, but my experience as a bloomberg customer has been pretty average, at best.

    bloomberg tradebook?

Now that you mention it, actually I haven't. :)

    bloomberg tradebook?

Ditto. Also the reps seem to change every couple of months so you never know who you are dealing with.

    Are writing options profitable?

Well, if you can make 20c at a time for the next 10 years you can get very rich indeed. Besides, where does it say it has to be 20c?

What is the name of this position?

Long stock + 1 long put = long call Short put + 1 long put = short put vertical So you have a short put vertical and an ITM long call. There is no specific name for this particular position.
