ALARIC Trader: The Real Deal? PDT? Reliability ?

Common, during this kind of volatility the trade desk is dealing with serious issues like margins and liquidations, etc. Unless you are loosing money, you should be ok to wait a bit. This is a small broker with limited resources I assume.

    One trader’s journey

K, watched one of the videos from Axia - no objections ... in fact that’s how the guy from SMB started. It would be interesting to here why he moved to stocks even though smb has futures program.

Price Offset gets rid of my shares outside ask/bid.

There’s no NBBO protection pre/post markets. Which exchange did it fill at? Also, when using offset, good question to ask is - is the offset taken off the prices seen in GUI client or the broker’s servers? These two may diverge significantly due to latency.

    Trade Alert

No problem, soon enough retailers will move to trading crypto equivalents of their products and exchanges will be used as nothing but reference data. Let’s see the value of their feeds when the “dumb money” is no longer in their books. I bet payment for order flow already made their feeds less...

    advantage to selling options?

I don’t think about it this way. My sloppy trading may give them their edge, but I had my own, completely unrelated, reasons to enter the trade. We are not direct competitors. But when I hear people discussing different options pricing models, I think to myself - ah another theoretician trying...

How is retail day trading anything but a gamble?

First, I don’t know anyone on ET. Secondly, I learned that absolutely nothing will convince non-believers. I was non-believer myself for a long time until I witnessed it. I learned it’s important to have open mind. Personally, I think that people who have not seen what edge looks like are...

How is retail day trading anything but a gamble?

To me, it’s the other way around - your job pay is not scalable. Day traders during volatility, like we had recently, can make six figures a day easy.

    Trade Alert

CBOE bought LiveVol and then dumped most of it, but my understanding is that they kept some proprietary data set(s).

    Trade Alert

But I am curious, as a user, do you see anything proprietary in their service? Let’s say I subscribe to full OPRA feed(understood it’s a challenge in itself), would I be able to generate the alerts you are subscribing to?

    Trade Alert

@ajacobson, why do you think they bought it? Do they have anything proprietary that CBOE couldn’t replicate? https://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/cboe-global-markets-acquires-trade-alert-adding-real-time-alerts-and-analytics-to-information-solutions-offering-301069140.html

Covered Call Backtest: Finding The Best Maturity, Strike, IV, And Earnings Methods

In the money by how much and for how long? I'm just curious if you have to factor in a scenario where the stock get called away on let's say Friday and you need to re-buy it on Monday. I guess that would be too rare to worry about.

Covered Call Backtest: Finding The Best Maturity, Strike, IV, And Earnings Methods

@Matt_ORATS, thanks for the post. Sorry if I missed it, but how does the test handle stock being taken away at 10 delta? How often did it happen and at what price was it bought back? In bull markets large percentage of returns come from overnight/weekend gaps. Also, I didn’t see a way to...

    Unusual Options Activity

Well, I signed up. The difficult part will be the money management which is suggested, but left up to each individual. The suggested stop loss is 50% and it's suggested to scale into and out of positions, which makes sense to me. I would prefer to have no stop loss at all, but he may not have...

One thing he mentioned is that members have access to him personally, if true, that would be a great value add. I want to subscribe to his picks service first to see if his edge is transferable and reasonably scalable.
