    Anti-fragile

This is just pointless rambling, but due to this turmoil, I had been reminded of Taleb’s book. How important it is to be as anti-fragile as possible in trading and life. It’s a great theory to structure your life around. This is where trading and life merge into single philosophy. Something...

    Am I Wasting My Time?

Sorry, I didn’t understand ... you are saying he has to be profitable within predefined time period?

    Am I Wasting My Time?

Lol, sounds very familiar. I can’t tell you what you need to do, but I said to myself that even if I fail, I win. I win by trying, by learning, by improving. Does this attitude make it easy in reality? Hell no! It’s very frustrating “wasting” all this time with nothing to show for it. No...

    Tweets of the week

Ross, who’s strangely not on this list, made 200k in one day. The funny part of that day’s recap was that he finally said - screw the stops, I’m just going to buy the dips and add. I am paraphrasing, but it is what Davey is saying as well. Will it end badly? For most, but not for all. Markets...

    Tweets of the week

One thing is undeniable is that this has been an amazing year so far for trading, so I am not surprised to see people bragging.

Is a single exchange level 2 subscription sufficient?

What you are getting is top of books published by a single source. You are missing all the price levels outside. If it doesn’t matter to you, then you don’t need it.

Execution speed of Dastrader, Sterling, RealTick?

Why do you care about execution speed anyway? I think they are all pretty much same nowadays for manual trading. The only exception is taking liquidity on low floats or fast moving stocks.

Execution speed of Dastrader, Sterling, RealTick?

Does Medved connect directly or via TWS?

Execution speed of Dastrader, Sterling, RealTick?

One of things that is good with DAS is that they colo and get market data directly, not from third party. This does not help with execution speed, but does help with reaction time. Also since their platform connects directly to IB servers, not via TWS, they may actually be faster than TWS, but...

Finding all analyst upgrades/downgrades before open

I think most retail news are specifically delayed so that you can’t act on it. I used free TOS and paid service via IB, and independent paid service, and they were close But not complete. Problem with TOS is that you cannot view history or search. So, I came to conclusion that best and timely...

Can you leverage prop firm infra as a non-pro / retail trader?

I think very unlikely. I assume you never ran live your ATS, so nobody is going to believe your hypothetical results. Big HFTs probably running same strategies, so not interested except for maybe picking your brains. Small close-to-hfts will not allow you to trade your own money(I assume person...

Did anyone else experience problems with market data today? Was disconnecting and reconnecting all day long. TOS had no issues.

Can someone explain this to me? Capping of a Limit Order Price.

The problem with sending market order is that you are guaranteed execution but not the price. You can get awful slippage. So can’t trade low floats and high spread stocks that way.

[QUESTION] - Options trading for INCOME

Nice story and nice video. I always assumed that selling premium for income makes sense only when you allocate 10-30% of overall portfolio to it. Your uncle must have gotten carried away with it. BTW, I didn’t catch what he said in the video at the beginning - jap sh*t box?

Active Trader / Book Trader in any other software?

Easy - I have hot keys defined to specify an offset. I also have hot keys for passive buy/sell and aggressive buy/sell. So I press offset-0 and buy-passive to join the bid whatever it may be. If I press offset 0.10 and aggressive-buy, I send buy order for ask+0.10 There’s a reason why DOM is...
