What about TDA? It doesn’t matter what platform you use if the orders are sent to the same MMs. RH users’ stop orders are same as anyone’s.

E.Musk - I created a school for my kids, with no grades

This is interesting topic as I am preparing to send kids to college. I assumed that the difference between top schools and the rest is not so much education as your future network. Rich send their kids to good schools because they can afford it and the kids, once out, use parents’ connections...

@frank7, you know the saying: beggars can’t be choosers? No offense but you are nothing but a headache/expense for them for at least a year. Thank your lucky stars that anyone is even taking their time talking to you. If you think like a trader, you can easily see that risk to reward for...

Only you can create your own success story, as you know. I just try to pick up bits and pieces where I can to help me get there. Value and success are very subjective. While I admire Ross as a very skilled trader, I think trading momentum low floats is too difficult for a beginner.

Not if it’s part of your strategy’s position sizing. One concept he teaches is trading on left side vs. right side of the chart. He is not averaging down randomly, he is accumulating position at locations where he is anticipating a turn. When you trade large size, you don’t have the luxury of...

The have tiers associated with the flow. They don’t know the individual clients but they know if they are toxic or not. With RH and TDA they are obviously all non-toxic. Only talking about equities, but I am sure options even worse.

I’m not thinking front running, I am thinking taking the other side of flood of orders that you know are coming from retail (non-toxic). And they don’t have to trigger anything, they can simply drop the bid or raise the ask. It only takes one lot to trigger.

@cruisecontrol, I agree that the article is confusing. Most likely the non-marketable limit orders in the stats are the limit orders (passive orders) which are routed to MM instead of going to exchanges. Why he assumed they come from stops I don’t know. Still, I would like to know if RH and...

@SimpleMeLike, I agree with you - we trade the markets we have, not the markets we wish to have. However, we should try to make things better. Letting HFTs manage stops is a huge conflict of interest, imo. I used to think that MMs knowing your stops was a myth, until now. Does it matter for...

    Stop hunting

Are you talking about options? I don’t think equities have anything like that. Common, I am sure you can see how a market maker can profit from triggering a bunch of retail orders. In any case, the question is - do HFTs get actual stop orders from brokers like TD and RH?
  20. Q

    Stop hunting

I always assumed that most brokers manage stop orders internally and only send them to exchanges/MMs once triggered. Certainly I would expect this from reputable ones like TDAmeritrade. If I understand below article correctly, they are sent to MMs before triggering. Which means MMs actually...
