There are no ghost patterns. These guys have very defined edges which they fiercely protect. Saying “we are running a profitable strategy fo 15 years and still don’t know why it makes money” is nonsense.

Damn it, I want that kind of leverage so bad but can’t quite figure out how to set it up. Sounds so simple (gamma scalping), but I am pretty sure I will be loosing money on long straddles. Anyone has any suggestions on how to combine long straddle with premium writing in a complimentary way...

@BlueWaterSailor gave excellent answer. For myself, I prefer volatile (growth) stocks. First, you get actually paid for the risk you are taking. The slow movers have “hidden” risk. They are assumed to be safe, but it doesn’t mean that they can not loose half of their value on news event. So...

What if stock gets close to strike, but you don’t get assigned. Do you enter stock or sell another put? In other words, do you prefer to not be assigned even if you feel strongly that the stock may have a good bounce off the level?

Why do you say that? When I listen to them, they always say to trade when IV rank is high. This filter should be good, no?

I try to buy shares first. Then sell call if I am at profit with stop at break even. If I get stopped out, I can re-enter at lower price or just keep the naked call. But I do get myself in trouble with this approach once in awhile.

I started with swing trading, then naturally moved to day trading. Now I have added options directionally only. I am subscribing to the OptionsGeek service (but you don’t have to, he explains his method). I also run a variation of the Wheel (which I treat as swing trading with options).
