Setting "Proper" stops in trend strategy?

I don't think so ... The point is that in a trend, you are always better off with NO initial stop! Higher highs and higher lows, right?

Setting "Proper" stops in trend strategy?

Yes, but based on what do you adjust it? It's a bit funny that OP specifically said "trend" strategy ... So the answer definitively is ... Drum roll ... When the trend changes of course :)

Thanks for posting ... Nice video. You have the stack of stop order tickets in your hands ... Lol.

Setting "Proper" stops in trend strategy?

I guess it's not much different from using HV stop (which is kind of what ATR is), except I would monitor for implied volatility expansion as a heads up to either close position or increase the stop. For example, if you are holding through earnings with 10% stop, but implied move is 20% ...

Can you keep sanity day trading?

I think people on this forum know that it can be done, but I was kinda taken back by below ... At what cost? "They’ve lost their families and their sanity. They’ve experienced such psychological and emotional suffering from their journey to profitability that they are forever blessed and cursed...

Setting "Proper" stops in trend strategy?

ATR is backwards looking ... Have you guys thought of using the options implied move? If MMs are the smart money, and they got it wrong, you probably shouldn't be in the trade anyway. One can probably write a program (or just set alerts) to monitor ATM straddle for unexpected expansion as a...

You should be able to specify limit bracket orders, but that would not solve your problem.

For profitable traders only...how much is your strategy worth?

Isn't that what makes it discretionary by definition? I guess one can try, but it will become so complicated and unpredictable that I would not put any real money in it.

For profitable traders only...how much is your strategy worth?

What about selling for 500k to four or more shops? I assume a serious buyer would require you to sign some exclusive, but that would not prevent you from trading it yourself, right?
  15. Q

For profitable traders only...how much is your strategy worth?

I believe it does happen all the time. Many peoples describe strategies which used to work, then either someone publishes a paper or it just gets out and too many people start running it until people start fading it. Look up "Turtle Soup" strategy for example. I have another example from...

    Reverse trend correlation?

Is my question so idiotic that people are confused by it!? :). Not random. There is a relationship ... X moving up or down causes Y to flatten out (pinned). But if X starts flattening out, Y starts moving (towards or away from) and vice versa. It doesn't matter which is driving which. This...

For profitable traders only...how much is your strategy worth?

Some strategies are valid but just not scalable, so people "share" them and "scale" them this way. Personally, if the strategy can be backtested, it can be automated and thus can be priced. Discretionary? It is just a method which may or may not be adoptable. I would not pay much in advance...
  20. Q

    Reverse trend correlation?

No, not inverse correlation. That's when X goes up, Y goes down. I'm looking for - When X moves, Y stays flat. Once X starts flattening out, Y starts moving/trending. Like when I stop moving, my weight goes up, but when I start moving my weight stays the same.
