The insanity of European property markets

I read a while back about Greece manipulating their debt numbers via swaps that moved debt off balance sheet but nothing about Spain. Can you link the report please if it's still available?

The insanity of European property markets

I read in Germany it's not common to own a home. Only realtively wealthy people do. Most prefer to rent. Naturally, people who own a few appratment buildings don't borrow much and keep their finances healthy. 2 things that may be helping this order of things are: 1) People are not keen on...

The insanity of European property markets

How much of the actual home price does a buyer in France typically pay? (Assuming 100% means the home is purchased outright and 0% means zero deposit and 100% mortgage.)

    About UK´s unsustainable debt

The wikipedia article you linked says the value of future pyment according to PFI contracts was £215bn. Assuming that the future quango payments stayed teh same (hopefully soem got repaid) and that there is no "present value" effect this adds about 24% to the official government debt. Not...

The insanity of European property markets

This is interesting. For a few recent years there was an overwhelming tendency in the UK to convert regional hotels into appartments. Some developers were able to realise as much as 200% profit based on the price of the hotel building (and they probably mortgaged it) in less than a year.

Does the Volume & Number of Ticks depend on a Forex broker ?

IB doesn't provide any volume either. The only forex broker who used to provide volume and market depth was HotSpotFX but they have gone institutional now. Your best choice is FX futures on CME but they are a tiny fraction of the spot FX market (5% in EUR/USD last time I checked).

The insanity of European property markets

Where the British goivenrment intervenes in property market is interest rates. If the BoE rate was raised to 2005 level, a typical monthly mortgage paiment would double. This would be a massive hit for people who resently baught a home they can barely afford as it is. UK Government also holds...

    About UK´s unsustainable debt

That's an interesting idea. According to Bank of England the total value of deposists from individuals and individuals trusts (these are the "guaranteed" deposits") was £938 bln in Q3 2010. This is about the size of the reported government debt. It's important to note that the guarantees...

Ron Paul: Crotch Groped by TSA, Calls for Boycott of Airlines

I'm sure you are well-versed regarding internals of the monetary system. However, lots of knowledgeable people take things for granted and don't think beyond what written in text books. No personal offence intended. As an example, I would like to share an intresting discovery I made recently...

China, Russia quit dollar on bilateral trade

A part of Russia's currency reserves has been in Euro for a few years. Now they are adding Candian Dollar. http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=at5XsdLU.68w I'm sure Renminbi would be on the list if the Chinese government allowed it.

Is It over For the U.S. - The Ecstasy of Empire

The government is prepared to subsidise colledge fees because parents (or students working themselves) pay for living expenses. Sending someone to colledge for 3-4 years to get a useless qualification delays them entering the unemployed list.

Ron Paul: Crotch Groped by TSA, Calls for Boycott of Airlines

I understood you were saying that the current system in the US, which is body scanners and for those who refuse to expose themselve on a scanner - pat-down, is better than psychological profiling. I am saying that for a potential culprit, who is not lazy, ignorant, or dumb, going through the...

BSAM, this is a perfect case where profiling DOES work. An ordinary person smuggling a bomb to a plane will understandably feel nervous, probably so nervous that it will be clearly visible to anyone who looks around... or the person will have to take drugs, which will be visisble to a trained eye.
