    American Atheists...wow are they great

What I find most amazing when I study history is just how important religion plays in the role of many notable people's lives. Leonhard Euler e = 2.718281828459045 e^(i*pi) - 1 = 0 For instance, Leonhard Euler (pronounced "oiler") was perhaps the most prolific mathematician in...

    American Atheists...wow are they great

I agree it should never have been there in the first place. I'm just curious from a historical perspective why there is suddenly a strong backlash against god in our society. From what I studied of Rome, it looks like they started to do the exact same things shortly before their empire...

    American Atheists...wow are they great

I literally don't have any idea why "In God we Trust" is such a huge deal. If you are hold enough to hold an opinion on God, then you are old enough to realize that the answer to all your ontological questions is not found on the dollar bill.

    Supreme Court Overturns First Amendment

Most atheists are probably pro-choice while most fundamentalists are probably pro-life. I believe in god but I am also pro-choice for circumstances such as danger to the mother, rape, extreme financial problems, etc. Anything past 3 months is too long.

    Just installed Mandrake 9.2 Linux!

When I installed Mandrake, it installed LILO or something that allows me to dual-boot into Windows when I need to. That way if I get totally stuck I can use Windows some more until I learn more about Linux. It is really quite nice how it is setup.

    Just installed Mandrake 9.2 Linux!

The only problem I'm having so far is that Linux takes a little getting used to. I downloaded some things in a .gz and .tar extension and I had no clue how to work them. I then found out they were compressed files, so I ran tar -x(??) filename.tar and extracted it. Then I was left with a...

    Just installed Mandrake 9.2 Linux!

I've installed Linux versions in the past and played with them, but I have to admit that this is really awesome. They've really come a long way since about 2 years ago. I installed it and it recognized every piece of hardware I had in my system. The OS is rock solid and all the software...

    Abercrombie and Fitch-discrimination or capitalism?

I totally agree. I have no idea why the United States is so anti-nudity. It is perfectly acceptable to have images of explosions, maimed bodies and destruction all over television, billboards and movies but if you show a woman's breasts you are in deep shit? That makes a lot of sense. It...

POLL: What is the World's Most Evil Religion?

To argue that all plants are atheist is absurd. You may as well apply that logic to all inanimate objects and claim that everything incapable of thinking is an atheist. Isn't that funny? Everything INCAPABLE of THINKING is an atheist!

    Abercrombie and Fitch-discrimination or capitalism?

Likewise, as an informed consumer, I have a right to discriminate against Abercrombie by not spending my money in their store. One of the benefits of living in a very capitalistic society is being able to encourage or discourage this sort of practice by spending my money elsewhere. I've...

POLL: What is the World's Most Evil Religion?

Yes, however your argument is basically using the limitations of semantics as its main point. Although I never had a belief in SNORKATS, I also did not have a belief that they did NOT exist. A lack of belief of something due to no knowledge of that something is a passive belief or disbelief...

Did I expect George Bush to f - - - it up as badly as he did?

I believe it is well accepted among top economists that a president rarely has any influence on the economic situation during his tenure. In fact, you could argue that the roaring 90's were in part due to Reagan -- not Clinton. Also, making a statement implying that all democrats are such...

I bet you didn't know this:

A plant is neither "theist" or "not theist," since a prerequisite to thought is consciousness. However, many atheists don't seem to do much thinking, so perhaps there is a correlation there. If a plant is "not theist" then it is just as much "not not theist." Think about it.

POLL: What is the World's Most Evil Religion?

If religion is such a problem for some people, we could always regress to USSR era godless socialism. I'm sure a lot of tree-hugging liberal arts students would love this. No more god, religion, prayer or sabbath. Then we could regress to running around stabbing each other trying to steal...

    Any recourse for COCO?

What I can't understand is why large firms can't implement simple checks at their order entry terminals? I understand that an order has to get out quickly sometimes, but surely some software program can look at an entry that is way beyond a typical standard deviation than what is normally...
