What do you think matters most in trading?

That's a case of not having proper position sizing in both accounts. You are assuming both accounts have the same number of contracts. Are you not risking less (on a percentge basis) with the larger account

What do you think matters most in trading?

What is a relatively small account? Sounds like you are managing or want to manage relatively large accounts, how do your clients react to the relatively large account balance swings? Most money managers I have dealt with (minimum account size 500k) try and keep swings to a minimum.

Spend a full day studying why traders fail; then don't do any of that stuff!!

What do you think matters most in trading?

I agree that you need $$$ when the opportunity presents itself. I am a long only equity speculator. I rarely employ margin. My system of buying stocks that increase in value and selling when the trend changes allows me to be fully invested when the market is rising and mostly in cash when it's...

What do you think matters most in trading?

Margin is a double egded sword. You can both make more and lose more on your capital. Slack must be something like wiggle room, to me it just means larger drawdowns and having to take more risk. Always works except when it doesn't. What has the percent of your wealth got to do with your returns...

What do you think matters most in trading?

This is way above my pay grade (obviously need a startegy with an edge)but I don't see the edge improving with more capital. I can see taking more risk because you are willing to lose more, but that won't necessarily improve your returns. It's kind of like saying you can spend more time in the...

What do you think matters most in trading?

Care to explain why? Why would the capital I have to employ make any difference?

    Limitation of Characters

How much extra pain is involved putting the pasted article in quotes? Anyone who is interest can click on expand and read the article if they are so inclined. Those not interested can move quickly to the next post. I'm interested in what you have to say, not in some article you have read.

    Limitation of Characters

He has got a point there Vic. That was a long cut and paste. Even if I decide not to read it I have to scroll through it to get to the next post. How difficult would it be to put quotes around something you cut and paste? Make everyones life a little easier.

    Exhale...Apple covered call

Yes it does. I very rarely look at the main feed. I check my alerts and then new posts. Threads started by an ignored poster don't show up in New Posts If an ignored poster has posted to any thread it will show as such and I don't have to check that post. One drawback is if someone quotes an...

What are the most valuable lessons you have learned?

Sounds like the traders prayer. Please God if you'll just get me out of this mess I'll never do it again.

    2% Rule(s)

I don't think so. It will depend on your strategy. What kind of markets does it work in? 65% win rate might also be misleading as we don't know the relationship between wins and losses. What you plan to risk and what you lose are sometimes outside your control.

When evaluating your trading results, is it proper to compare to a simple buy and hold?

I'd work more on the psychological and discipline stuff. (Getiing comfortable with being uncomfortable) Keeping good records of a losing strategy will only tell you that you are losing.
