How did you grow your account into a big one?

I'm a long side trader for the most part. (Canadian tax laws tax short sales as income)I play the short side with inverse ETFs. I'm not concerned about asset classes. I scan for stocks with certain price and volume criteria that are in an uptrend. I also scan for stocks, that meet certain...

How did you grow your account into a big one?

By increasing size. Once I developed an edge I increased my risk on each trade. I started risking less than 1/2% of account size per trade and slowly increased it to 2%. This has quadrupled my return. I swing trade stocks, usually make 100 to 150 trades per year.(2 to 3 trades per week)...

What is your biggest weakness when it comes day trading?

Even the simplest methods "WorK". Most traders don't have the discipline to take the drawdowns that are part of the methods. It simply comes down to cutting your losses and letting your winners run.

Are all price patterns the same? (examples)

I don’t have any idea what price will do next. What I can tell you is what I will do. I can have a scenario where I will buy or sell or stand aside in reaction to what the market does next. Regardless of what decision I make, I will have an exit strategy that defines my risk and protects my...

What you read is not what I meant. It is not long or short that concerns me. It is the risk reward ratio.

Yes I do. I don't feel the risk is worth the possible reward. The moves down are usually greater than the moves up.

Let's discuss trading styles that don't involve prediction

Pick a stock or whatever market you like to trade. Pick a time frame. Make your trade in the middle of a price bar. (5 minute bars make your trade at 2 ½ minute into the bar) Flip a coin. Heads you go long, tail you go short. If you are in a loss position at the end of the bar. Sell...
