Here is why owning some Bitcoin now makes sense

That would not be best of anything. That would be just another form of fiat currency. The answer is recorded on the genesis block of bitcoin. A more detailed explanation is the whitepaper of bitcoin. I'm not being cryptic and would expand on it if you want me to but I'm sure you know what I'm...

:D I actually should not have added the comments about not buying gold with bitcoin as I may do so in the future (almost pulled the trigger on 10 ounces when bitcoin was higher, but...)

You missed my point. I was specifically responding to his post listing the gold's value in $ vs bitcoin's value in gold weight being 0, and yet bitcoin can be exchanged for gold but not the other way around. For Pete's sake, I even cut out all the other sentences!

Isn't it ironic that I can purchase 5 ounces of gold for less than 1 bitcoin, but no one can purchase bitcoin directly using gold? (no thanks, I'd rather keep my bitcoins) https://www.apmex.com/faq/how-to-pay-for-gold-silver-purchases-at-apmex#what-form-of-payment-does-apmex-accept

What Nassim Taleb Did on Black Monday 1987

When I was trading options, I read a lot of books on trading with focus on psychology (Reminiscences, Market Wizards, New Market Wizards, The Way of the Warrior-Trader, Fooled by Randomness, etc.). I stopped trading options when I learned about bitcoin in 2013 and traded cryptocurrencies...

    Bitcoin Price Thread

What I read was that he market dumped on certain price points such that there was trend-reversal change in sentiment. The last market dump he did was when bitcoin price point recovered to over $11K causing the last trend reversal which bottomed in the low $7K this weekend. Supposedly, he's done...

Being that I'm a permabull on bitcoin/cryptos, you thought I was blaming tether for the crash. I was not. The crash happened for many reasons but imo the trigger was the dumping of the Mt Gox trustee that sparked a change in the sentiment. It's neither here nor there as it's already over. I was...

The manipulation may have already happened through the printing of USD tether that kept pushing the price of bitcoin in December. The manipulators, however, may have been outside of the reach of the US regulators. The situation is skewed in favor of the longs as the btc supply is limited on any...

It's illegal to manipulate the markets and CME futures have US government eyes on them. But, I actually think you're on to something, although the numbers are probably in the order of $100M to $200M. Search on Reddit and there were many discussions that during the runup to the $19K price of...

Thomas Lee was the guy who predicted bitcoin would hit $6,000 by 2018 when bitcoin was still below $2,000. I agree with you that predicting 2 years out is just a wild guess, so just take it with a grain of salt.

I'm not a chartist, but it seemed to me that bitcoin was (is) oversold in the short term. I do like this prediction, but I'm biased: https://www.forbes.com/sites/chuckjones/2018/03/17/chart-shows-bitcoin-hitting-91000-by-march-2020/#15ce4dd142e6

G20 watchdog focuses on rules review, holds fire on cryptocurrencies

You know what's funny? I was going to remove the last 2 sentences as they were unnecessary, so agreed with you there. It was a troll move to the naysayers... My position is long term, so gotta ride the whipsaws no matter what.

G20 watchdog focuses on rules review, holds fire on cryptocurrencies

This may have been the reason for the downtrend-reversal to the upside of bitcoin today... G20 not ready to crack down on bitcoin, yet, despite calls from countries and leaders. Hmmm, methinks some rich and powerful are already invested in bitcoin...
