How close is Wachovia to becoming the next WM?

I can't believe Citi is assuming all these additional liabilities when it has its own balance sheet problems.

How close is Wachovia to becoming the next WM?

I dunno until we read the details but so far it doesn't look like there is any money being offered to shareholders, they did mention bondholders: 09/29/2008 08:20 *DJ Citi To Assume Wachovia Senior, Subordinated Debt Citigroup Inc. To Acquire Banking Operations Of Wachovia Last update...

How close is Wachovia to becoming the next WM?

It means deposits above $100k wont take a loss and it wont cost the FDIC insurance fund a dime.

Before you open a PDF attachment from an anonymous ET poster: http://www.trustedsource.org/blog/153/Rise-Of-The-PDF-Exploits. [/B]I see a fair amount of Excel, Word and PDF attachments being posted or linked to here from time to time. I hope no one is reading them from their trading computer...

Why the US is a Buy?

Just because it isn't going bankrupt doesn't mean its a buy. The market could go sideways to down for years following this mess.

The Only Bailout Thread I'll Start

Comparing the "leverage" of the FDIC vs LEH vs Allstate misses a fundamental point - not all leverage is equivalent, it depends on the risk of the investment. By just looking at the ratios you are comparing apples to oranges.

    Cray@home

If you look at the actual specs, there is nothing special about these blade systems - its the same hardware you can get from Dell or others. Just a regular WinTel platform. Guess they are charging a premium so that you can say that you own a Cray.

I don't know but two posters back to back seemed to imply it did... "1172 cash is the 50% retracement from the 2002 low to 2007 high. October 2002 to October 2007." and "Just got my first buy signal today as well at 1178" Of course all TA is subject to interpretation; Its an art not...

Yea, I'm surprised there isn't more chatter here about Citi, huge drop in the last week and definitely part of the "too big to let fail" clan. Maybe once it hits single digits folks will start paying attention.

    ES Journal Archive (2006 - 2008)

IMO, trying to use typical TA methodologies on a long-term prediction when there is a lot of serious bad fundamental news breaking each day is unwise. TA may say we have bottomed but all it takes it another piece of bad news to take us down further and I see no lack of bad news in our future...
