Not it matters much now but does anyone know if the moving target of $250k/$200k is referring to adjusted gross income or taxable income? I'm hoping its the latter.
I just saw an Obama commercial and would have sworn he said that taxes wouldn't go up on families making less than $200k.
WTF - I thought he has been saying again and again that $250k was the threshold... did his tax plan just change?
Interesting, I am running it now for comparison and the two lines after "System Idle Process" both show no cpu usage ever.
If you're googling I'm sure you've come across the same articles but the best way to track this down I would imagine would be something like this...
Another bad day on Friday:
International Equity Plus EAFE Index*

I am not aware of any mainstream anti-virus program that monitors the network traffic - the performance issues would make such a task impossible. Dedicated IDS/IDP appliances cost thousands of dollars to accomplish that goal on servers that do nothing but monitor network traffic. Most PC's...
Obviously the downside of this is that if 660 is the bottom you are only 20% invested in what could turn out to be one of the best investment opportunities for decades.
Is the reason that you didn't post today until around 2pm because you keeled over and knocked yourself unconscious when you saw we were lock limit down or because you were busy all morning working at McDonalds?
That was my earlier point - if you want to buy the opening (or cover a short) then you should place an order well below the lock limit, just look at where SPY is trading to get a feel of where ES would be without the lock. Bidding 855.00 is stupid.
Its crazy that anyone would sit on the bid one tick below the lock limit - once the market opens you know its going to shoot down even if just for a moment.
Probably overkill but you could run Process Explorer from SysInternals, will give tons of detailed information about your system, a lot more than task mgr and its free too:

Sounds like one of the two cores is being maxed out by some wayward program....strange that nothing shows up in the process list...are you sure you checked the whole list or sorted by cpu usage?
No amount of money will matter if you are not profitable.
If you are profitable then the account size you need depends on what you are trading which makes a thread like this which doesn't mention any specifics pointless.
Also I just doubled my account while I was typing this post. Doh, it...
I love cowards that go through the trouble of creating a new alias to hide behind for a single post - it warms my heart to know I got under your skin. :D
Got to love nut jobs that take a misstatement and turn it into a conspiracy.
Yea, something huge is going to happen on exactly Jan 21st or 22nd... better get your tin foil hat on and hide in your bunker those two days.
Yes but I'm not concerned with speculators - no biggie if they get burned.
The issue is that folks that did hedge their positions by buying CDS's will be blowing out of the water if someone pulls the rug out from under them and declares the CDS's void - leaving them unhedged.
I don't know much about the CDS world but if I held a bunch of corp bonds and bought CDS's to protect them against default and then someone came along and decided to declare all CDS's null and void I suspect my balance sheet might not be looking to good, especially if the bonds I bought were...
Read this again and try to understand the difference:
If you had held on to your 1000 share long stock position then you would have been fine - they would have closed your position out, and given you $3 per share. You can't fault Ameritrade for what you decided to do. Its not like they are...
It doesn't matter, if he wasn't naked that means he had a short Ford position and when that short position was closed by the option exercise the net effect is the same (in terms of what it cost him)
Of course there is no way for you to determine who wrote the puts nor is there any reason to...
