    Computer for trading

Look, I can't argue about hypotheticals, I've used a lot of trading apps, I have a strong background in computers, programming and networks but I don't want to derail this into a resume-comparing thread. In my experience it is unlikely that his trading app is I/O bound, RAM intensive or needs...

    Computer for trading

This thread is pretty funny. Yea, I wouldn't recommend compiling an app while you are trying to trade, probably not a good idea to use your trading machine as SQL server either, lol. Also the suggestion about using a faster internet pipe is great but doesn't help the OP spec out a...

    Computer for trading

Yes it is, if you're making your living using a computer. Hell it bothers me using a slow computer for superficial things like browsing the internet - the resultant delays are noticable and a waste of my time. When you are using your computer to trade, delays can equate to lost $. [B] Not...

    Computer for trading

The speed at which your computer responds is determined almost exclusively by the CPU (assuming the configuration isnt screwed up). Just because you don't run a CPU at 70% all day long doesn't mean its not worth it to have a fast processor. When the cpu is given a task you want it to...

    Sounds like a solid machine.

Again I disagree, CPU performance is most important. [B] That's your opinion...perhaps you should have made your luddite views known to the OP before you started offering your advice on his system upgrade.

    Computer for trading

You don't need to exit other applications to see how much cpu your trading app is using. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896653.aspx) [B] Uh, you are the one that said RAM is the most important component. Make up your mind. [B] The incremental cost of a fast...

    Computer for trading

Well if you are concerned about RAM performance then you need to pick a processor/chipset that supports the latest/fastest RAM (DDR3)...guess what, you're back to I7. RAM is dirt cheap so getting plenty on a new rig is a no-brainer. I also don't think a typical trading app uses a lot of...

    Computer for trading

I disagree although a vague term like "trading app" leaves a lot of wiggle room. I would love to hear what you believe is the most used/important PC component for a trading app.

Definitely go with I7 as the processor, RAM and disk space depends on your needs, everything is so cheap now its better to overbuild a system.

    Sell ES 931 Objective 780

I think you better double check that...the only thing I've read is that they may do a long range missile test (i.e. no warhead) around July 4th...and of course they may do another underground nuclear test but I haven't seen any credible source say they are going to attempt to launch a nuke.

The Credit Crisis Financial Stocks Short Journal

Why look at something almost a year old? Without even getting into whether the OFHEO method is superior or inferior to case-shiller, the most recent data (Q1 2009) shows a lot more (26) states with >4% declines in the past year : http://www.fhfa.gov/Default.aspx?Page=215&Type=summary

Friends and Family Account - Wash Sale Questions

I believe you are wrong. They wouldn't be able to take the 5k loss but their basis for the second purchase would be adjusted based on the loss so the net result would be the same (taxes on $5k profit). That's my understanding....not a tax pro but I've read IRS Pub 550...

Your bank is a criminal organization, after 17 years of doing business my bank cheats

An overdraft fee is applied when you attempt to overdraw the account not because you did overdraw it. Now pay up sucker. Only stupid people. The banks have to make their money somehow, I'm ok with them charging people who manage their money poorly...saves me money.

Your bank is a criminal organization, after 17 years of doing business my bank cheats

It can't but the way the banking system works, dealing with a charge that can't clear requires a lot more work than a charge that doesn't clear. Does it really cost them $50 to handle overdrafts? Probably not. The excess is a stupid tax. Now pay up or you get to find out all about...

Your bank is a criminal organization, after 17 years of doing business my bank cheats

Clue #1 Overdraft protection If the company that charged you did so early in violation of some written agreement then they will pay the $50 overdraft fee but somehow I think that isn't the case. You should not have given your bank details for anyone to bill until you had the account funded.

Your bank is a criminal organization, after 17 years of doing business my bank cheats

Here's let me fix your quote: sjfan is right, you are clearly not capable of managing your money properly. Perhaps you should keep your money under a mattress and not use banks? Oh and I have good news, since you think that Telus should punish I think you will find out shortly that you will...

World War III needed to wake up the people

???Seems like you are ahead of them in terms of this unlimited, free energy: Q. What is the Plan? A. ...Research will also seek the development of clean alternative energy sources, and to overcome shortages through the development of new materials

World War III needed to wake up the people

Agreed - really that goes without saying. [B] Maybe, its also possible that technology/innovation will lead to changes without us having to endure max pain first, probably not. In any case regardless of the catalyst for change there is no way we will end up with a society as described by...
