So I spent 5.5 k on new system, only to have my old system back (beyond mad)

Yea, I blew out my account because went all-in long on S&P futures because of this thread: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=188629 Great call - market has been going up for months you manage to pick the worse possible time to go long. So how much did you lose in...

What is the maximum gap down at open ?

Just because the market is artificially locked into a range doesn't mean you can force someone to trade with you at that price. If DC and NYC were nuked by a terrorist do you think that when the markets eventually re-opened it would only be down 5%?

So I spent 5.5 k on new system, only to have my old system back (beyond mad)

Maybe you should buy another 16GB of RAM, its really cheap these days and you are so loaded. Then the OS will be using less than 10% of memory and your life will be so much better. I bet you are running the x86 version of Win7, yea keeping throwing more memory at it...that will fix 'er Oh...

This thread proves you can't fix stupid.

    2 pcs, 2 isps, 1 mouse

Two NIC's on each PC? One NIC configured for internet access (with a default route) and the other used just to talk to the other PC on a private subnet, e.g. 192.168.x.x. Never tried it with that app but it should work.

    Video Graphics Card Driver

If you don't have another way of finding out what the card is (e.g. specs from the original system order) then physically pulling the card and finding the model # is the best way. It may not have a big white label but the card has to have some module # or ref numbers on it, even the cheapest...

So I spent 5.5 k on new system, only to have my old system back (beyond mad)

So far the only person who has made a fool of themselves in this thread is you...again and again. I just upgraded two systems from XP to Win 7 in the last month and both boot much faster now which isn't at all surprising if you look at all the work they put into increasing the boot speed since...

So I spent 5.5 k on new system, only to have my old system back (beyond mad)

Wow, DOS and doom, LOL - you clearly have outstanding credentials. I started with CP/M and assembler. Again, you mentioned that your Win7 is using 2 GB of RAM but you fail to understand why or state why you think that is a problem. Do you think that the OS executable code is using that...

So I spent 5.5 k on new system, only to have my old system back (beyond mad)

The ignorance in this thread is amazing - your analogy makes zero sense. You think your PC runs slower when the memory is 25% used vs 5% used?!? If it makes you happier to keep your memory usage really low than there are plenty of crap programs out there that will force Windows to page its...

So I spent 5.5 k on new system, only to have my old system back (beyond mad)

You haven't demonstrated that Win7 is a resource hog, taking advantage of free memory for caching doesn't make an OS a resource hog. It really sounds like you don't understand how operating systems work. The fact you spent $5.5k on a PC shows that you aren't very technically savvy as you have...

So I spent 5.5 k on new system, only to have my old system back (beyond mad)

If you want a faster boot you need to go with an SSD, a huge HD isn't going to speed your boot time. On a machine with enough resources Win 7 is going to boot faster than XP, all else being equal. Not sure why you care how much RAM is being used while idle - you would prefer that the OS...

    microsoft antivirus software

The vast majority of virus infections come from user actions, not OS flaws, e.g. launching attachments or programs from questionable or unknown sources. Oh, and Microsoft Security Essentials is free.

    microsoft antivirus software

I think he's talking about Microsoft Security Essentials, Windows Defender is I believe is focused on spyware. I've been using MSE for the last few months on some of my machines; no problems but I haven't seen any detailed comparisons on its effectiveness vs other AV vendors.

I think its funny that I revived this 5-month dormant thread to mention that C2's database had been compromised and everyone goes back to talking about the same old issues in the thread without skipping a beat...maybe I should have started a new thread about the break-in. Anyway, in case you...

I know there was a pay for performance option in the past (you only paid the monthly subscription fee if a performance target was reached), I haven't visited the site much recently so I don't know if that is still a subscription option.

My take: Because if potential system sellers knew how few paying subscribers there really were they wouldn't bother publishing their systems on C2. This discussion comes up many times on C2's forums and the admin always says the same thing about why he doesn't want to disclose that info...
