Do you understand the difference between the "Rate of Change" and the absolute value? Rate of Change can be negative while the absolute value could be still positive. Recession (by definition) starts when the Rate of change becomes negative. We have this for quite some time now, don't we?

"The Firm" should immediately hire a consultant who understands hedging with options and pay him/her a lot of money to execute the hedge properly! "The Firm" also should reconsider the employment agreement with an employee who has this kind of naive questions.

Look at the Put/Call ratio and the open interest. It might give you a clue. I also suggest selling OTM puts to offset your short. I would even go with the ratio spread on June options. It is your best bet IMO. Cheers, MAESTRO
