Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

An interesting observation. I would suggest looking at the tick data in a raster (much like your TV screen) way stacking periods of tape on top of each other rather than following each other. This technique instantly will show you flocks.

Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

Agree. It wasn't my intention to suggest that everything could be explained using randomness. I was merely trying to state that randomness is an objective quality of nature, and not a subjective utility used for modeling the reality. And, of course, it is just my opinion. I do not have a...

Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

At the risk of disappointing you I think that your example (hypothesis) is too literal. I would stay away from the "reasoning" behind the chart patterns; it's a bit of a stretch to me.

Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

It is my absolute pleasure to share my thoughts here. I would be delighted if my humble efforts could ignite an interest in this subject even in a very few people. One of my goals in life is education. I would be so pleased if I could make even smallest contribution to this cause and help in any...

Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

It was mentioned by others here earlier in this thread. The book "SYNC" really helps to understand it better. http://www.amazon.com/Sync-Order-Emerges-Universe-Nature/dp/0786887214/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1316098244&sr=8-1

Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

It becomes not chaotic at all. A rigid structure emerges like a layer of ice crystals over the puddle of water. Whatever the reason may be, we all need a reason to act, wouldn't you agree? Thus the reason is essentially a prediction, a belief in a certain outcome. It's not entirely a...

Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

A very good analogy and a very interesting and quite correct mental image! Yes, my multiple "randomizers" are "floating" in the "soup" of market. There is always one or two or more of them are getting in sync with a particular segment of the market and start floating with it. The Sync could...

Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

One butterfly cannot; a billion butterflies can. There is a "critical mass" for everything. One milligram of uranium is harmless, 1000kg of it is deadly! Cheers, MAESTRO

Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

Thank you for your interest. Randomness is the reason for chaos. Randomness is a universal property that manifests itself through chaos. Chaos is a state, randomness is a property. Spontaneous sync is a phase shift of chaos. When pattern emerges from chaos it is a manifestation of sync...

Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

I understand and respect that. However, there is a few very powerful and extremely useful implications of accepting the randomness as a necessary and objective component of life. If we, for example, did not believe that gravity is a universal property of matter we could not make progress in...

Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

I have always respected other people's points of view in terms of their fundamental philosophical believes regardless of their background and where those people have spent their childhood. Victor's points of view and his models are accepted, shared and embraced by many leading US, Canadian and...

Argument #5 Econophysics Research in Victor Yakovenko's group conclusively shows the reason for RANDOMNESS. Please take a look at his various findings at: http://www.physics.umd.edu/~yakovenk/econophysics/ Look at his ASTONISHING models of money distribution and Wealth Distribution...

Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

I have lots of colleges who share your point of view. It is, actually, not too far from my own philosophy either. I just use spontaneous sync as as a model for that "creative" force.

Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

Argument #4 Let’s construct a simple one dimensional discrete random walk using the following rules. We would flip an unbiased coin and every time it lands on “heads” we would draw a step (size 1) up and every time it lands on “tails” we would draw a step down. It is well known that...

Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

That is what frustrates me the most. The point of this discussion is exactly this. IT DOES NOT MATTER which is real and which is not. This is exactly what I am trying to prove.

Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

I have a favor to ask. Could you please try to understand that I do not deny existence of stable patterns in the markets at all! In contrary, my whole research is dedicated to finding those patterns! All I am presenting here is my method of identifying them. The random actions of multiple...

Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

A very solid and accurate interpretation as well! I am now relieved; at least some of the participants of this discussion are getting the right idea of the direction that I am trying to present (the proposed point of view). I just want to state very clearly here I DO NOT INSIST THAT THIS IS THE...

Do you see patterns in Random Walks?

Possible. In order to have Sync we need to have oscillators. However, many "avalanche" or "snowball" effects are initiated via spontaneous synchronization of elements that are not visible at the first glance.

And Tomas de Torquemada - head of Spanish Inquisition in 1483 said " Earth must be flat otherwise the rivers would flow out of it! Just because we cannot see the end of Earth it does not mean that it is not flat!"
