    Underexposed introduction and TA methods

Actually the "correct" defaults as put forth by MACD creator Gerald Appel are 12-25-9 and 8-17-9. The latter gets invariably ignored and the former gets invariably typoed into 12-26-9. I figure this must have been first typoed in Edwards & Magee or some other TA "bible" for the error to be so...

    Underexposed introduction and TA methods

Nah, I have no use for bands, channels or envelopes. But you said you wanted comments so I commented. Exactly. Which is why some technical traders design our own, rather than trying to make due with some cookbook indicators designed by people more involved in selling books than in trading...

    Underexposed introduction and TA methods

Keltner Channels versus Bollinger Bands "There are two differences between Keltner Channels and Bollinger Bands. First, Keltner Channels are smoother than Bollinger Bands because the width of the Bollinger Bands is based on the standard deviation, which is more volatile than the Average True...

    Are stocks easier than futures/forex?

You mention forex in your title but you and others ignore forex in your posts. Is there some fundamental disadvantage to forex trading?

    Having a system vs freewheeling

Depends on how you're wired. Mechanical systems that are consistently profitable are best but they are hard to come by. Some traders can develop their intuition or insight to the point where it is profitable. Some traders use a combination where they use one or more technical indicators to...

    Can random trading be profitable?

This is a foolish theory put forward by people who think you can prioritize the components of a trading plan. They rank money management as most important, followed by the exit strategy, with the entry strategy as the least important component or maybe even completely unimportant (aka...

    The ignore list

Baron, please ignore the trolls in this thread and address the thread issue. I'm tired of going to an updated thread on the home page only to find out it was started by somebody I'm trying to ignore. This is the opposite of an upgrade.

Why Profitable Trading Is So Difficult

Is that why so many charts cluttered with trend lines and s/r lines and other TA stuff look like chalk outlines at a murder scene? :D

    The marketing guru: Anton Kreil

Get into your multiverse transporter and go to a parallel universe where that course is offered because I'm pretty sure it isn't offered in this one. :p

    The ignore list

If I'm on your ignore list then why respond to this thread like a perfect idiot? Wait ... I just answered my own question. :D

    The ignore list

You can no longer ignore a member via his profile. You have to edit your ignore list directly. :( I think this is a result of letting us know an ignored member has posted to a thread, which frankly I couldn't care less about. Thus is one new feature I can live easily without.

What are the basic ingredients of a trend following system

:D I just had to make a quick point that shouldn't go unaddressed. Ignoring trend or chop is a road to ruin.

What are the basic ingredients of a trend following system

There is one commercial system that claims to do this. http://www.mindfire-systems.com/Catscan.html I do not recommend it because I cannot vouch for its efficacy, but fwiw such a system does exist. Based on my own research, no single indicator can differentiate trend from chop very well...

What are the basic ingredients of a trend following system

    1) Trade with the trend. 2) Let winnings run. 3) Cut losses short. 4) Manage risk. 5) Ignore anything written by Jack Hershey because listening to him will only lead to nowhere or, worse, lead to madness. Assuming you apply step #5 immediately to avoid getting sucked into a vortex...

Gargantuan Head and Shoulders Top in the Dow - Dow 2000 target

This is BS. Nobody is "killing it" with simple MA crossovers. Sure they work in bull markets ... what trend method doesn't? But as a long-term strategy you'll be lucky to break even.

Gargantuan Head and Shoulders Top in the Dow - Dow 2000 target

CMT is mostly a scam. You spend a lot of time and money to learn a lot of worthless bull like head-and-shoulders. The TA that works isn't going to be found in books, seminars or "trading system" crapware. The TA that works is the stuff you design yourself from the ground up. But apparently...
