    Has this place died?

Here's the 411 on Gary Williams. Most of his supporters are the typical one-post shills we know to expect in this type of discussion. http://www.elitetrader.com/et/index.php?threads/gary-williams.111940/

    Has this place died?

Many people have been sold a bill of goods when it comes to trading. With all the trading school scams, get-rich-quick books and other hustles, even smart and well-educated people have sometimes been duped into thinking that trading is the one area where wealth comes easily. So no surprise...

    Has this place died?

I was thinking in terms of that tiny fraction who have (or think they have) a working strategy. To trust a worthy strategy to software made by a company with loyalties that don't lie with the traders but rather with the paying customers (the brokers) just strikes me as extremely naive.

    Has this place died?

Monetizing this site ala Tsu won't bring in quality posters, it will bring in money grubbers. One thing I mentioned years ago is getting rid of the multiple accounts. I never understood how allowing sockpuppets, at least half of which are set up specifically to troll other people, was ever a...

    Has this place died?

Some of the trouble, I'll grant you. But I've long thought those FX traders who trust their strategies to MetaTrader are idiots. "Free" trading software? Please! TANSTAAFL

    Has this place died?

I get quickly fed with the ones who come here just to take, which would be OK if they at least displayed some manners. They post a question, get at least one useful response and turn out to be mannerless gets that can't be bothered to say thanks. That gets old and tiresome.

    Has this place died?

Lucrum is a troll of the worst sort. Good riddance. Only idiots and other trolls miss him. To hear Lucrum who stalked me for some time subsequently whine about being stalked was absolutely hilarious.

Is there a place where we can find out who's been banned and for how long? TIA.

Some ways to define a Trend.

The measurement of a trend is entirely dependent on sampling rate and sample size. The sampling rate (aka timeframe) is arbitrary but the trader usually has a pretty good idea which timeframe he wants to trade in. However the sample size (aka period length) can be chosen to maximize trendiness...

Some ways to define a Trend.

You and I are on different pages. Trendiness is independent of slope. And I personally place no value on slope measurements because price is not differentiable.

Some ways to define a Trend.

Are you talking about defining or measuring? They are significantly differently. If defining, the only acceptable method is with words put together in a logical and meaningful fashion. And as you see from previous posts in this thread, there is no universal agreement on the definition ("trend...

    Why strategies make money

Understandable. Trend following is an umbrella concept that covers a great many strategies, most of them failures. No surprise that no one has gifted you with a consistently profitable intraday strategy, those are very valuable items.

    Why strategies make money

I'm not at all convinced most people do that. There are many more ways to fail at trading than to succeed, and it's easy to say it's primarily because of this or that but where's the empirical data?

    Why strategies make money

Trading with the trend is easily the simplest and arguably the best trading metastrategy, but is not an actual strategy (aka detailed plan). This is why so many traders have difficulty implementing it: a lack of details. This is the challenge: coming up with a detailed plan for trading with...

    Why strategies make money

BLaSH is not a strategy, it's a goal. The strategy would be the counter-trend detailed plan that enables this to happen.

Some ways to define a Trend.

Let's bottom-line things. As I've said elsewhere, trend following (aka Trading with the Trend) is the simplest and arguably the best trading metastrategy there is. Presumably this is why the OP asked for a (presumably workable) definition of trend and what I tried to supply to him. Obviously...

Bill Cosby: Don't Bring Race Into Discussions About George Zimmerman and Trayvon

I saw two women (one of them a former movie actress) with claims so outlandish, it's impossible to take them seriously. But the vast majority of them are of a type and if even only one of them is true, that's still one too many.
