Oil Is Going To $35 Per Barrel

"The market in general seems all about faith. Nope, not religious faith, but just faith." um, no. the market is about supply and demand. TA is a tool to help model that. FA, otoh, can also offer insight into value ( moreso than price) and depending on yer timeframe and goal, choose your...

    becoming emotionless

i am not trying to sound all zen and stuff :l but... enforcing the discipline to ALWAYS take your stops is a process that, ... well... it was (looking over my trading results) the ONLY reason i wasn't profitable - not always taking my stops. as soon as i realized that, and...

Was this a Glass half empty day ... after a while ?

half-empty for whom? for my trading style, I could not ask for a better type of trading day. intraday trading dow futures on days like today, and using my preferred setups, is a dream. it was just very fluid and gave very clear signals to me today

oh, i totally agree. i am saying that - GIVEN that i am a IB customer - i have yet to see a compelling third party product that improves on their booktrader such that i would buy it

Lost half of my years salary in a week!

"Being that the currency market is geopolitical and fundamentally driven in regards to its movement, correlations and reactions, do you consider TA the end and the means?" all markets are ULTIMATELY fundamentally driven. TA is merely a derivative OF fundamentals in every respect. TA is...

    becoming emotionless

"The first step is you realize the numerous beatings you have taken were due to undisciplined trading. " assuming you have a system with an edge. if you don't, the beating might just be because your trade selection/system sux. but it is true that most beatings, ie big losses happen because...

Pattern day trader rule in IB?

whether or not you can short sell has nothing to do with PDT rules. it has to do with margin rules iirc, you have to have a margin account to short sell. but whether or not you are defined as a PDT should have nothing to do with whether you are able to short sell or not. if you can go...

The Best TA Book Ever Published!!

frankly, i think people overemphasize charts. one can do TA without charts (yes, u can...) and certainly take into account diferent factors that are not chart based all charts are is a MODEL. scientists use models all the time, simply to represent data. that's all they do, but i think...

    This is HUGE bull market

"The general market rule is that the majority is usually wrong." this is an oft-repeated meme and its incorrect. the majority is not usually wrong. because most of the time, the only way the indexes move up is if the majority are long. and of course, stubborn shorts help what is...

    hedge fund trader vs. daytrader

Yes, I agree. I don't think for a second I could apply my futures (mostly scalping, but I do some spread trades, some options, etc.) techniques to the larger scales needed for hedge fund trading, nor would I. I think a big part of trading futures is recognizing the market environment (I find...

    hedge fund trader vs. daytrader

ok, don. but your firm is not the entire daytrading universe. the opportunities for a small retail daytrader, in futures or equities (i personally perfer futures - but that's me), is still there. it aint over. as long as markets move, and CBOT (or CME for that matter due to the buyout)...

    hedge fund trader vs. daytrader

"I agree that someone who just "daytrades" is going to have a serious problem, no matter what. The "day of the daytrader" has been long over." with all due respect, this is utter rubbish. the day of the daytrader is not over. one merely has to (had to) adopt to a chang(ing) paradigm and...

i use the booktrader DOM in IB. i tried ninjatrader, bracket trader, and ZLT none seemed to offer enuf extra over DOM to justify the cost if u program the DOM with the proper hotkeys and macros, it does basically the same thing and is faster, as far as i could tell
