A peek inside the Health Care Bill

I have read a fair amount of HR3200 and I can say that it will be a job killer for many small businesses. Anyone involved in the writing of this bill clearly has never run a small business.

A peek inside the Health Care Bill

Passage of anything remotely resembling this bill's current form will be political suicide for all intents and purposes for the Democratic party. I have to think there are a handful of Senators and House members that are savvy enough to see that.

Geithner Says Strong Dollar ‘Very Important’ to U.S.

This is the type of thing that makes you lose all credibility, which is a problem when you're the Treasury Secretary. You can debate whether debasing the currency is good, necessary, etc in this situation, but if that is the strategy you're going to chose, at least don't spew garbage like this.

Geithner Says Strong Dollar ‘Very Important’ to U.S.

I think we can all agree on that. It's amazing the lack of respect our politicians (I'll put timmy in that category) have for their employers (we the people).

    Economics History

To attribute the economic success of the 90's to Clinton, is about as idiotic as blaming Obama for all of the current pain. Clinton raised taxes, but also reformed welfare and controlled spending, due in large part to having a Newt Gingrich controlled congress at the time. Add in a period...

Bloomberg: Keynes, Friedman Give Way to the Master of Gloom: Amity Shlaes

What caused the bubble in all of the morgate backed securities that got us into trouble???? Governement intervention...... NINJA loans to poor people that cannot afford 3,000 sqft homes Fanny/Freddie Cheap (free) money from the FED......... The free market, just capitalized and...

If you've seen any of Increasenow's previous posts, you would know that "serious discussion" and "increasenow" do not go together!!!!! BANG!!!!! I have come to the conclusion that increasenow is a fake poster that is affiliated with ET. He jumps from market to market and continually posts...

could the economic situation be different if we voted differently

Things currently would not be alot different in the US. However, our decline would be a little slower than what our current socialist Pres/congress is forcing us towards. We can't even pay for our current entitlements after 2017, let alone the new ones that they are trying to shove down...

US dollar up against 9 currencies year to date.

Wow, we're really crushing Ghana and Jamaica :D

    California Stealin'

That is flat out theft and is disgusting. If you wanna take people's money, then do it the right way, out in the open by increasing taxes. This is a bigger slap in the face than a tax increase, IMO. That might be enough for me to leave the state that I'm in.

    Obama gets bitch slapped

I wouldn't be too sure about that. I believe they willl still pass something. I agree that many dems in some of the more conservative areas will back away. Their only way to pass it will be to water it down. It will still likely be much more benign and won't have a job cratering effect on...

A weak dollar is good for the US

I agree. I don't see that much down side to a weak dollar right now, as long as it doesn't crash. We certainly want to maintain reserve status, but really what alternative is there for the foreseeable future.

    The Worst Bill Ever

Pelosi may be committed to losing seats, but will the Congressmen in the seats that are in play (2010) willing to lose their jobs? They are going to get a wake up call tomorrow when Virginia and NJ go Republican (both Obama states).

Obama warns more job losses coming

Obama is now trying to lower expectations so that he doesn't under deliver. This is the exact opposite strategy that he used during the campaign.

New York as a financial center will largely be determined by Washington.

Both parties are clearly in bed with Wall Street (possibly the Dems even more so than the R's), so I would say they will fare well in the future, even if it is due to tax payer support.

INSANITY: 1 Year After Crisis Spawned by Their Idiocy, Bankers Expect Record Bonuses

I am not a huge fan of govenment regulation, but in a day and age where "too big to fail" is a free pass to get bailed out, I say you have to break up these enourmous banks. If you're so big that you pose a systemic risk, then you're just too damn big. You must be divested, IMO.

2/3rd (75%) of the economy is consumers buying? but it is dropping?

Not very likely. I do think Americans have adjusted their spending habits slightly, but those days are long gone, where the average American spends only what he needs and stashes away as much cash as possible.

Tax refugees staging escape from New York

Sounds like many people were just trading down, rather than escaping taxes. Moving from NY, to NJ or the Bronx isn't likely to be a big net tax gain for people, but the cost of living might be significantly lower. Moving to Florida on the other hand is probably a tax move.

200,000 American Unemployed Per Month Losing Unemployment Benefits

"Pounding the pavement" doesn't magically force companies to create jobs. Our economy is still shedding jobs, so until that stops, "pounding the pavement" isn't going to work for everyone. I agree that in a hot job market <5.5% unemployement, it is wise to not provide more than a few weeks...

A true SUPER Laissez-faire 100% free 0% government intrusion economy.

Totally agree. And that's coming from a free-market capitalist. I actually want government to stay the hell away from companies completely, but that's not going to happen. So if we're going to socialize/bailout compaines that are "too big to fail", then we need to make sure there are not "too...
