We have to address this issue. Paying off your home or not. So much foolishness

I agree. I'm in the "pay off your mortgage" crowd as well. Whether you have a job or are a trader, there is something to be said for safety. If your house is paid for, you are in a very strong position, financially. I am working towards this goal myself. After that if I want to quit my job...

Buffett 20% annualized gains over 45 years

The man has $40 billion. Without getting out my calculator, how in the hell do you think he created all that without some very impressive returns? Man, the people here on ET crack me up. There is ALWAYS a conspiracy, I guess.

She turned $180 into $7 million!

They are a private school and as such they can do whatever the hell they want, IMO. The problem with education in the US is not Harvard. It is the entire public school system from k-12 and on up to the vast majority of public universities.

Germany:We give you Euros, You give us Corfu!

Thank you, I was about to weigh in with that observation. There are a few more as well.......... jasonm, mikasa, joe123 and probably a couple dozen more that I can't remember off the top of my head.

    Position trade alert

I've been looking into this trade as well. A couple of problems that I haven't gotten around yet....... 1)Time frame is way too long for me to trade futures, not to mention natty futures aren't even close to even their recent lows and there is way too much downside left to take a position...

McCain: I'll Cut Deficits Like Reagan

McCain would have done much of the same as Obama, only he wouldn't have compounded the problem by trying to create a BRAND F*CKING NEW ENTITLEMENT PROGRAM THAT WILL ONLY SPEED UP OUR BANKRUPTCY. With that said, it's meaningless as he has no shot at getting the Republican nomination should he...

    No more Saturday mail

Also, these guys make way too much money, IMO. How is delivering bucketfuls of spam marketing any more important that delivering pizza? Yet these guys are paid better than many cops and teachers.

    No more Saturday mail

Well, I appreciate your love for Netflix, but non-digital movies will soon be extinct anyway. I would rather the USPS looking for ways to reduce costs than for them to just keep asking for more public money.

wavel: Everything I know is here

I would say that how much money you've made is very relevant to how credible your information is. You've made between $10-25k in six years? I would say that your info is very relative to that figure.

Euro ‘May Not Survive’ Deficit Crisis, Soros Says

Good point. Politically he probably would favor that, but at the end of the day, making money trumps politics.

Euro ‘May Not Survive’ Deficit Crisis, Soros Says

This could be a push for a more centralized world treasury......Soros would like that.

    Say goodbye to the Euro

You can trade via etf's, assuming you don't want to trade forex or futures........ Bullish on the dollar = UUP Bearish on the dollar = UDN There are also etf's for the Euro (just google to find ticker symbols) and I'm sure there are alternatives to UUP/UDN in the dollar as well.

    Say goodbye to the Euro

He's saying if he's wrong, he will reverse his long position to a short stance. He's bullish on the dollar, but would get short again if he's wrong.

    Republican Senator Foils Unemployment Benefits

Exactly. I'll take a Kentucky congressman over Pelosi, Finestein, Barney Frank, etc any day of the week.

    Republican Senator Foils Unemployment Benefits

That's called political courage. Also, I like how biased that title was......."REPUBLICAN Senator FOILS Unemployment Benefits" Actually, he is trying to stop borrowing to pay for EXTENDING them.

Bernanke delivers blunt warning on U.S. debt

Those are pretty pointed words from Bernake.

Obama May Ban All Foreclosures Without Review by Loan-Modification Program

That is without a doubt true. It's also true that the American people have realized what a huge mistake it was and will stop Obama dead in his tracks this fall. That will probably (70% chance, IMO) be followed up with him becoming a 1-term POTUS in 2012.

US ponzi scheme - growth problems

Yes, going to war used to mean mass producing (in the US) ships, planes, tanks, jeeps, etc Now it means producing lots of missiles, drones and a few humvee's and contracting out with French companies for cafeteria services. Not quite the same effect on GDP.

US ponzi scheme - growth problems

Have you researched the validity of this technology? I'm wondering because I have not had a chance to, but heard the 60min headline and it sounded promising. Obviously a new energy technology such as this would revolutionize our world completely and would advance the standard of living...
