LA downgraded by Moodys - California riskier than Kazakhstan

Average class size is down significantly in the US in the past 40 years, as well as $/pupil is up, yet our average HS grad cannot even tell you the three branches of government. Class sizes are also larger in private schools as opposed to public schools, yet private students trounce public...

LA downgraded by Moodys - California riskier than Kazakhstan

Either you are lying or your mom is lying, or you don't have your facts straight. I don't believe your claim. I would imagine that there are VERY FEW schools in the US that have higher average class size than 30/class................. http://www.laalmanac.com/education/ed09.htm

Bank of Mom and Dad Closed! What about 50K a year tuition?

Good question. At least with medical costs we get a longer life span, with a higher quality of life, as technology advances. I don't think our students today are getting a better education than they were 20 years ago, and many would argue it's worse.

Tax Holiday coming up. (Peaceful protest)

It sent a message to China, Russia and countless other countries that were considering a move towards communism, that the US would challenge their advance. Totalitarian regimes are the scourge of the earth and need to be defeated. The Vietnam War helped defeat the threat of communism that...

50% tax, will US follow suit?

Really??? I bet the engineers, mechanics and manufacturers that design, maintain and build the jets, mercedes, etc don't believe that it's foolish for rich people to spend money on high end items. I would imagine that the contractor that builds the mansions or the small business pool guy...

Tax Holiday coming up. (Peaceful protest)

Ok, take your toys and go home. Put me on ignore because we don't agree. I called you a dork, because you "threatened" me with the ignore feature. That's dorky behavior, IMO. Yes, he spewed two different messages. That's called a campaign. If you're a Vietnam vet, you are old enough that...

Tax Holiday coming up. (Peaceful protest)

Oh a threat to put me on ignore.......how terrifying. Go for it dork. I didn't vote for Obama, so don't put me in the "DUPED" category. If you fall into that category, then that's your problem. Anyone that voted against Obama and donated money to opposition candidates like myself, can...

Tax Holiday coming up. (Peaceful protest)

Yes, he had all of the centrist, "Trust me, I'm a different kind of politician" rhetoric, but if you listened to any of his policy platform, he is doing exactly what he said he would do. Did he not run using health care reform as a major component? Did he not say many times that he wanted to...

    Retirement Account for Day Traders

That's a good point, although it's also probably fair to say that tax rates currently are at an all time low. I think you'll see all brackets go up in the future. It's inevitable considering the amount of debt that we are accumulating. That is to the Roth's advantage.

Are Teachers Unions To Blame For Failing Schools?

I don't agree with much of what you post normally, but this is spot on. There are many factors involved in setting the quality of our schools and parental involvement, discipline and support is probably the largest component.

No pre-existing condition and profits are limited to %15 for health insurance co?

Clearly this guy doesn't understand how government intervention into the free market works, nor how price controls work. Profitability is a good thing, as it will help contain costs as companies fight over marketshare. We pay a lot for insurance, not because the companies are rolling in...

Tax Holiday coming up. (Peaceful protest)

Not to mention, how do you know that the local Wendy's isn't a franchise owned by someone in your neighborhood? Also, what about the employees at large corporations? Do we want them to be laid off, because of a boycott that wasn't well thought out?

Tax Holiday coming up. (Peaceful protest)

I agree that there is virtually no one in congress that has more than an ounce of fiscal restraint or unselfishness when it comes to making tough choices. But who elects, and even worse re-elects these criminals? You guessed it, you and I. That's the point. We just had en election, where...

Tax Holiday coming up. (Peaceful protest)

This is silly. If you want lower taxes and reduced spending, then vote that way. Donate your time and money to help elect the fiscally conservative candidates. Not making money, not spending money, etc is a great way to get things done, IMO.

My guess as to why traders fail

I completely disagree. Jack is delusional. I realized that by about the 2nd post that I read of his, and the nail in the coffin was him talking about captuing 3x the daily range on a consistent basis. He knows damn well that as soon as he interjects his nonsense into a thread, that the...

even Obama knows the US is bankrupt

Bush's Debt (all 8 years) < Obama Debt (ONE FREAKING YEAR) I'm no fan of Bush, as I don't believe him to be be conservative, especially fiscally, but come on.

Flipping is Back? : House Flippers in U.S. Crowd Courthouse Steps in Hunt for Deals

This isn't like 2006, where you could show up with no cash, no job, a 120% LTV mortgage on your residence, and still get financing. You need quite a bit if cash to get financing for a rental/flip, so that automatically means that you don't have big numbers of people flipping. Seriously, if...
