Mortgage Defaults May Be Driving Consumer Spending

This is the exact opposite of your view on the health care form and higher taxes correct? You should reverse your thinking, IMO. Higher taxes and high welfare payouts disincentize people from working hard and taking risks in the market place. On the flip side, forgiveness of debt (as long...

Americans, shaped by 30-year fall in borrowing costs, set to feel the pain

Duh, everyone KNOWS that interest rates will rise from here!!! I like how people expect that there is some sort of guarantee in the market place. For all we know interest rates could stay low for another decade or more.

Monsanto and similar companies have helped advance food production to the point, where it's so affordable and available, that even the poorest people in this country have an abundance of it.

Polish President and Top Military Brass Dead in a Plane Crash in Russia

It is truly unbelievable that a country of Poland's size would put the entire leadership of the country and military on the same plane. My company will only allow 15 company employees on the same plane at once, regardless of position.

Let's solve the tax problem without Volcker

Of course those numbers are up significantly. YOY, you're comparing them to one of the lowest points since the depression. Much of that is inventory rebuilding and pent up demand. Also, if you pump a trillion$$$ of borrowed money into the economy, there will be some short term positive...

Let's solve the tax problem without Volcker

I believe you're right, but the point is that is absurd to blame this all on Bush/Republicans. Remember who controlled the congress in Bush's last year of office as well.

Let's solve the tax problem without Volcker

Sure but you could create an independent body to audit the results. Also, they already try all the tricks in the book to lie about the numbers anyway.

Let's solve the tax problem without Volcker

Bush's deficit spending (ALL 8 YEARS) < Obama's deficit spending (ONE FREAKING YEAR) Deficit spending under ALL previous administrations < Projected Obama spending in his first 5 years in office

Let's solve the tax problem without Volcker

Here's an easy way to solve the problem......... The President, VP, and Congress all make a modest base salary ($70,000) but are retroactively paid a large bonus if the budget is balanced, or is at least trending that way. Example..... Budget is balanced in previous year: $500k bonus...

Is Greece a Microcosm of what is going to happen in the USA?

I respect your opinion, but the chances of states breaking away from the US is nil (or at least in the next 30 years). The federal government would NEVER let this happen and at least for now, people in the US have way too much to lose for them to want to get involved in a civil war.

Innovation is the only way out!

Your headline is hilarious....lol It's so funny because it's a true statement, and the picture is pretty much what our economy is built on now.

federal gummint pays higher wages than private industry

Bureaucrats in DC will now pick the winners and losers among us. Small fortunes will be made by people with 100% job security and no downside risk....... all at the private sector's expense.

JCPenney March same-store sales up 5.4%

Regardless, those are encouraging numbers. I agree that you're comparing to a very low baseline number, but it's much better to have these types of numbers than flat or negative.
