Got a match? 55% of Greek young people unemployed.

Exactly. There is a tipping point, at which government grows so large, that it's nearly impossible to have innovation and business expansion. Greece is the extreme example. The rest of the EU is close behind. The US is quickly gaining ground on them with Obama and the Dems pushing their...

Trillion dollars in student loan debt. Young people can't afford a house, family.

There's plenty of blame to go around on this issue.... -Politicians, particularly the Democrats love to buy votes by "providing affordable student loans". See President Obama's recent tour across the country blanketing college campuses. This has led to massive increases in tuition and an...

Will we bounce down from highs?

Eventually this market (and most asset classes) will not just bounce down from highs, but will crash. But for now, it's "RISK ON!!!" because the central banks around the world are forecasting QE for some time to come.

    Indians in America

Back in my sales days, I sold to some wealthy Indian-Americans on occasion. The experience was brutal. I almost walked away from one particular sale (and commission) because I was very near my breaking point.

    Is Intrade legit?

It's totally legit, but it's not exactly 1-to-1. So you're paying $565 and will get back either 1,000 or nothing depending on who wins. Also, an Obama win is not exactly a lock. Right now the polls are tied. No President has ever been re-elected with unemployment this high. Undecided...

    about greece

Maybe you didn't read the original post to get the potato reference. As for France, I agree they are as broke as a joke, but they are always going to be close to the top of the food chain in the EU, and will ensure they benefit from the PIIGS nations involvement. My point is that every...

    about greece

Greece needs to get out of the EU as soon as possible, depreciate their own currency and bring back tourism and sell potatoes, etc. The game will always be rigged towards Germany and France. The smaller countries have no chance in this game.

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Huffpo and the people that frequent the site, are completely clueless regarding economics. It doesn't surprise me that they think a FTT is a good idea.

will cancelling the mortgage deduction crash the housing market

I don't see how they could possibly get rid of the mortgage deduction for homes under $1mm. Either party would get hammered politically if that were to happen, unless there was an offset in rates elsewhere.

Where do we Invest in 2012 and beyond????

Farming is just like any other business..... some will profit, some will lose everything. Regardless of weather, crop prices, etc you have to manage it just like a business. I doubt that many people off the street can just buy a farm and make it a profitable venture. Not a lot...

false inflation myths that are false

I tend to agree that inflation/deflation is based in demographics first and foremost. I also agree that we are battling deflationary forces right now and we're far from having to worry about inflation at this point. I know that last part is completely against conventional wisdom. EVERYONE...

    The simple tax:

It would be very hard to quantify net worth values. It's much easier to track income, sales, etc. How much is a private business worth? Often times you can make the look close to worthless.

Weak economy... not just an aftermath of 2008

China will always buy our debt as long as they want to be a net exporter to the US. There is no other way..... They deliver ships full of crap to us. We credit their account at the Fed with extra zeros. They turn around and buy treasuries. Can someone else tell me what they could...

Except the exact opposite will happen if the stock market crashes. Rates go lower as money flows into the safe haven of the US Treasury market which pushes the price of TLT up. Look at what happened in 08-09
