1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

What you're seeing across the EU and US are governments running out of other people's money to spend aka buy votes with. This is just the beginning of the money grab. Taxes like this will be introduced all across the West. "Wall St", "Large Corporations", "The Rich", "Pharmaceutical...

1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

Liberals are the scourge of the earth. They want the all power centralized and they would love nothing more than to be able to allocate 100% of wealth in the manner that they see fit (which coincides with them getting elected/re-elected).

Do full-time forex traders exist or is it just make believe?

Where is the proof that you can trade profitably? I don't think I've seen that but I could be wrong

If everyone is selling gold/silver why is it hard to buy now?

Yes but I would argue that deleveraging is caused by the lack of demand for credit which is ultimately caused by demographic trends. A slowing economy brought on by the boomers beatig retirement also reduces credit demand by corporations. It's a vicious cycle, IMO

    Doomsday is Coming

Well that was nice of you to come back a year and a half later and move the goal posts. Timing is everything I guess.

So how did your S&P 450 call turn out?

If everyone is selling gold/silver why is it hard to buy now?

Good point. Demographics likely are the root cause of most of the deflationary forces. Certainly the proliferation of social programs and the decay of the nuclear family/morality exacerbate the situation greatly.

If everyone is selling gold/silver why is it hard to buy now?

The worry over deflation writing is on the wall..... -China showing cracks -The US labor market is still horrendous -Manufacturing slowing -BOJ has to double its balance sheet to get 2% inflation pa -Commodities falling -Boomers retiring -Cyprus selling large quantities of...

    HAHA - Goldbugs!

A true, hard-core gold bug will just rationalize any drop as a more attractive price to buy more gold :)

    Soros Solves Euro Zone Problem

I don't necessarily buy that. Soros is far from the only one pushing for a Eurobond as a solution to this problem. Basically all Keynesians, MMT'ers and those that worship social programs are saying that is you have a common currency you need a common bond as a way to monetize debts...

    Bitcoin thread anyone?

The issuers of fiat have guns for starters. At the end of the day that plays a very important role in tax collection and trust of a currency

    Bitcoin thread anyone?

Why would you not use a proven store of wealth like gold, investment grade diamonds or real estate if you're worried about a currency devaluation?

    Soros Solves Euro Zone Problem

The EU has three choices: -Significant Deflation -Weaker Euro via monetization -Implosion I'm not sure which route offers the least pain. In all likelihood, they all offer the same amount of pain, it's just a matter of who and when.

    Bitcoin thread anyone?

The world governments will be coming for Bitcoin at some point, and when they do, that bubble will pop very quickly.

EricP, Lescor, Patrickq, Dustin and gang..

Yes and I think most successful people that I know agree there is a certain amount of luck and timing that go into the equation. All of these factors enter in the the outcome IMO

I wasn't one of those kids. I played major college football in a BCS conference (scholarship, started 3+ years). I can assure you that the vast majority of my teammates were very hard working, and there was little correlation between those that rode the pine and those that played in the NFL...

I'm not sure what sport you played, but maybe 1% of random people taken off the street could be taught to hit major league pitches (at a decent batting %) even with a decade of top notch coaching and years of dedicated practice. There are millions of kids that play competitive baseball from...

Help: Bank of Cyprus took my deposits

Exactly. There are so many more stealthful ways of accomplishing the same thing. Why do something that would be a political nightmare when you can take money from unsuspecting people slowly, with no political ramifications? Then you can even turn around and offer the very same people...

The bull run is over--- WSJ headlines

I happen to think the end is near but you have to assume the bulls can keep this going longer than you think possible. I think we're getting to the place where some cracks start to show but the breakdown could be months down the road. I eliminated my leverage because its just not worth...

The startling rise of disability in America

I can't say I'm really happy that my kids will face a lower standard of living through inflation and high tax rates to pay for most of these folks. I've had very wealthy relatives get SSDI and it's appalling. This always happens with welfare states. Expect this type of garbage to only...
