Nikkei getting killed. Dow futures blood red. BTD on Friday!

This makes no sense. If you think the market is being manipulated up, why not go long and enjoy the ride?

Why did Japan say they want 2% inflation when they are panicking with 10y bonds @ 1%?

Japan is the perfect test run for the US. Their demographics are worse, their debt is significantly more, etc. If Abenomics works for them, and 5 years from now they haven't imploded, it basically means the social program gravy train in the US can continue for quite some time to come.

What is the holding period for swing trading?

All trades including scalping, day trading, swing trading, position trading and investing are all trying to accomplish the same thing; which is to buy low/ sell higher or sell high/ buy lower. How you label it doesn't really matter because at the end of the day, you are the one who controls...

    Housing Bubble 2.0?

Real median household incomes have been falling consistently for the past 4 years. Falling rates is the only way to make housing more affordable for home buyers. If that reverses, you have a big problem with housing affordability once again.

    Inverse Treasury Bond Funds

I have been buying TMF on dips and selling when oversold for the past year and it's worked pretty well. I suppose I should look at TMV for the opposite dips since I tend to believe it's range bound.

    Inverse Treasury Bond Funds

hoodooman, a couple of the global macro guys that I listen to such as Jeff Gundlach and others are buying treasuries on dips, as they think we stay range bound for quite some time to come. Their thinking is that because of our budget deficit, slow gdp and a still fragile housing market, there...

    Inverse Treasury Bond Funds

No such thing as a sure bet, IMO. Look at people who thought rates couldn't possibly go lower in Japan in the last 10 years. They called the short JGB trade the widow maker for a reason.

College professors complain their jobs are being taken by online education.

The liberal arts schools will be wiped out between the price increases of the last decade and the proliferation of online classes. And that's a good thing

How will weakening US bonds effect the USD?

The fact that the US seems to be the best of the worst (and maybe by a long shot), will keep upward pressure on the dollar. It could allow the dollar and stocks to rise together, which hasn't occurred for the most part since the 90's.

    Housing Bubble 2.0?

I'm definitely seeing it in my area. Bidding wars, houses getting multiple offers in the first day or two of listing. I think there are lots of home owners that have wanted to sell for quite some time that are coming out of the wood work because the market is moving. That supply, along...

Why did Japan say they want 2% inflation when they are panicking with 10y bonds @ 1%?

Yes, you have summarized exactly what they have said their strategy will be publicly.

10 Things That Every American Should Know About The Federal Reserve

It's very easy to get people riled up about the Fed. Show some scary looking charts, play some sinister music and put on youtube. That way you can profit from your "economic apocalypse" book sales or allow you to push gold/silver onto people.

    Brain Teaser for Prop Interview

Yes, this was on a Gallup test I was given once for a job. I forget what my answer was, but I got the job. I don't think they care about the actual answer as much as they do if you get flustered (can think outside the box a little) and give some logic to your answer.

So what will send this rally over the cliff?

This is a pretty big deal IMO. We're probably at least in for a correction at some point. Half of my gains on DXJ will vanish. I should have known that it was time to exit when my confidence in their money printing went to extreme levels. If Japan continues heading lower, the US is likely in...

    RM's occasional market calls...

I sense a lot more uncertainty about the tapering of QE after today. That could cause a big spike in the vix.

So what will send this rally over the cliff?

Market could get a little rocky here if they really end up tapering in June.

Gotta love ZERO RISK in the SP500 = $$$

Ya, anyone not in DXJ or DBJP or FJSCX is literally missing out on the free money that Abe has promised he will hand out in the next 1-2 years. This will likely turn ugly on Japan, but until it does, I'm going to enjoy the free money falling from the BOJ's helicopters. You can't even buy...
