    Paulson just said on cnbc

Please. All the blue states are asking for bailouts from the fed too. It's only the Republicans that are opposed to all this bullshit. Obama is proposing a $1T bailout next year. Please don't lump Bush in with conservatives because is actually just as liberal or more than Obama economically...

    If Deflation it is.........

I agree that Obama has his work cut out for him. HE MUST FOCUS on the problem at hand, or there will be no 2nd term. He must also focus on this ecomic crisis and let most of his agenda fly by the wayside, as did President Bush in lieu of the war on terror.

Who at ET trades for a living?

Thankfully I don't trade for a living, because I still cannot consistently make money on my trades. I make a nice living so until I can be confident that trading can replace that, I'll likely continue trading part time. I've managed to break even for the past 2.5 years, so it could be worst...

Everytime one of the spokesmen from the Big 3 open their mouth

It makes me dislike them even more. I realize they are just out trying to save their own jobs, but it's easy to see why these companies have failed so miserably when the VP's and CEO's open their mouths.

The 4 stages of single women in NYC

I never mentioned anything about "attractiveness" in my post.

The 4 stages of single women in NYC

By the way, I thought the post was quite funny, although I would argue some of the points.

The 4 stages of single women in NYC

The explanation is quite simple..............sun damage. Sun damage obviously, is more prevelent amongst fair skin people, as opposed to dark skin. The ironic thing is that these are the exact people that spend hours every week fake baking. Sun damage rears it's ugly head in the following...

    The economy must be bad!

With her net worth, she could afford any new car thousands of times over, but it is admirable that her parents bought used. She's young enough that it is important to try to teach some semblance of frugality.

Only reason the DOW isn't -500

It is clear that the Autos will get their money. It is also likely that it will come out of the TARP, therefore it is less total money being spent, which is a good thing, in my opinion. Secondly, it looks like this whole bailout could force some major changes (finally) to the Big 3, which...

gov't now says they will help GM

Probably because last night when I was on ET, there were litterally 4 or so threads started by ny hood regarding this one topic.

    NO Vote tonight on Bailout!

You said that right. I heard a stat the other day, that the average American spent more time watching reality TV shows, THIS MONTH, than they had spent retirement planning in the past decade!!!!!!!

    $207 million dollars!

You're going to have to pay taxes on that my man. 35% + state taxes will give you a little haircut on that $141

    NO Vote tonight on Bailout!

These mofo's might just be the best negotiators in the world. We need to put the head of the UAW in front of Ahmadinejad and watch him turn over their entire nuclear program :D

Big Three bailout just collapsed !!!!!!

That could very well be what happens. Although I suspect that the UAW might be the one to crack first. We will see.

    NO Vote tonight on Bailout!

These workers only have their own union to blame. Had the UAW made some reasonable concessions, this thing would have passed. There is no reason to give them money, if they aren't willing to put themselves in a position to at least be somewhat competitive and able to make a viable run at...

gnome, Let me know and I will gladly trade you $1 bills for each square of Charmin. Just let me know what your liquid net worth in US dollars is and I will start stocking up on the Charmin. :D

Germany to Face Worst Recession in Its History: Research Group

First, please don't blame us for your economic problems. The US is not the root of all your economic woes, contrary to what the popular belief is. Secondly, we are getting hit just as bad as Europe from what I can tell. Thirdly, we are a socialistic country as well. Maybe not quite as...

    Now calling for $1T stimulus...

Do these assholes think that you can avoid all recessions by borrowing money?

Has a Dow Jones index component ever gone bankrupt?

How does any company go bankrupt? They were spending more than they were bringing in. You do realize that oil hasn't alway traded above $145/bbl and gasoline hasn't always been $3-4/gallon? Look at the oil bust of the 80's. That market was decimated.

    Outlook For US Living Standards

I do agree that it seems likely that the rest of the world will start to catch up with our (US, Canada, Western Europe, Japan) standard of living. I'm not so sure that these places will drop in standard of living necessarily, but more likely will stagnate, as wealth is transfered to China...
