IB has done an amazing job of pumping out improvements and new features over the years. Having said that, I would also like to add my voice to those who request that new features be balanced with stability and reliability. Having one without the other is self-defeating.
* Chinese bond markets are the world's best (Chinese 10 year yields have moved from 5.25% to 3.6% in the past twelve weeks),
* Industrial production is rolling over (weak oil consumption, weak iron ore imports, weak Baltic, weak steel prices, weaker industrial production numbers...).

As our more faithful readers know, we have spent a lot of time in the past 18 months looking at the growth in the US current account deficit, the growth in Asian central bank reserves, etc... And all of our work has constantly drawn up the same conclusion: in the past couple of years, Asian...
What We Don't See - July 2005
From GaveKal Research
Our favorite economist, Frederic Bastiat, used to say that economics was all about weighing "what one can see" against "what one can not see'. And while we realize we have used this quote repeatedly, we never get tired of it. Indeed...
Anyone else?
I'm a bit surprised that so little attention if given to Lowry's by ET traders.

I remember another one but can't recall its URL right now. It was something like stockwatch/hound...? Its creator was a white collar con gone straight and it used the symbolism of a dog/hound to 'sniff' out bogus companies. It had a lot of non-actionable news/stories. Mabye if you ask the guy...
We've heard a lot about them, read little crumbs Paul Desmond lets falls into the laps of journalists, and read their Dow Award submission...but does anyone here actually subscribe to their service?
I hear its like $1200/year and very much worth it. I'm going to subscribe but wanted to hear...

If we...
Shiller's Irrational Exuberance (second edition) has some interesting info on real estate. Its fascinating that around 90-95% of the appreciation in real estate comes from inflation. That is to say it is an illusion. Shiller strips this component out and shows that on avg. real estate goes up...
This is a bit of a digression but...
Dave: Do bear markets even exist?
Victor: Bear markets only exist in retrospect. This is one of the greatest fallacies in the market. One of the main philosophical points in our book is that itâs guaranteed to happen.
This is tautological...
Just wondering if anyone has read a really interesting book lately?
It doesn't have to do with trading directly per se. Personally, I read Blink and Freakanomics recently. Both were great and I recommend them. They aren't about trading but you may find them useful because they contain a lot...
Yes, and no. Rogers made the call not in 1998 but in 1994 or 1993 depending how far back you want to go. He has always been a huge commodity freak. If you read his books or articles (from waaaay back) he´s always talking about them. He even taught a course in Columbia business school on past...
