    Professional platforms/software???

I've often wondered the same thing. What do the big boys use? or is it proprietary? I guess its just curiousity.

Happy to hear that another trader is now secure on the web. :)

Get ZoneAlarm from www.zonelabs.com It is free and it is one of the best (if not the best) out there. Go to www.grc.com to test your vulnerability (Shields Up!) before and after you install ZA. There is no way in hell that a properly configured ZA would let anyone see your hard drive. I...

Actually I thought it referred to some anatomical part....an adjective of sorts.:D :D [just kidding]

    Worst market ever?

I think as long as you have an exit strategy and have given this outcome a reasonable probability of occurance (meaning that you won't be shocked into paralysis) then I think you're going to be ok. Althought the market as a whole may be experiencing low volatility as per the VIX or VXN there...

Not disinterest....indifference. A small but crucial difference.

    Anybody making any real $$$???

I bet you would! Actually so would I :D IB made more than $500 million in 2000 largely from their system trading. That's one sweet black box.

Is anyone using SWIFT TRADE? a canadien broker.

I meant that the commissions are high. http://www.questrade.com/ http://www.tradefreedom.com/ Compare their rates to each other and then to US firms (like IB or PD) and you'll see what I mean.

    Need Broker to Replace/Backup IB

I think the closest is pointdirex.com which was already mentioned. Another option (close but not as good as PD): http://www.successtrade.com/getting/commissions.html

Is anyone using SWIFT TRADE? a canadien broker.

They aren't the only discount broker around. They are one of 3 EDAT brokers in Canada. But getting back to your question, if you want to get financially raped...go ahead.

    Need Broker to Replace/Backup IB

You call a $15 ticket charge (limit orders) + ECN tickets "cheap"? compared to IB's cent per share structure with a $1 min?

100 % increase in options volume / IB quote

Just wondering if you've found any good trades. I appreciate your posts and have learned a lot. Look forward to your next.

    surprise move on midday......!!!???

Its obvious why another terrorist attack would throw the market into panic. It would basically mean that all the US government has done since Sept 11 has had no effect. That is why it was important to the market whether the incident in Milan was an accident or planned. With everything else...

    IB Quote Problems

Got a reply from same source regarding a time frame. I was a bit surprised but we can always hope: "A week".

    Swing/Position Trades

agree, after yesterday's speech I am thinking we'll party like its 1998...although in a different sector of the economy. Greenie apparently has a bubble fetish, if not stocks, then real estate.

    IB PD AND Legend securities

You know it is really interesting to me that successful people are humble and acknowledge a mistake (readily admit it and move on), while others hem and haw about a blatant mistake (wink, wink). The market is a painful place to learn humility, it is a really stern teacher. I mean take Tony for...

def, I meant the response to my question. Not the way that IB may be tackling this.

    IB Quote Problems

I e-mailed IB's mgmt about this persistent problem and they replied with the following: "We have been notified about occasional delays in the quote stream. The problem is in our market data distribution system. The Best Execution order routing logic is not effected. Even though these...

    Sector breakdowns

Thanks for all those that replied. I also found a list of sectors at prophetfinance.com but the most comprehensive and well designed list was at TradeStation (I did a trial a while back). Is there anything resembling that outside TradeStation?
