    IB Setting Trailing Stops

Although I don't agree with the chairman's view on trailing stops, I think I understand what is leading him to that conclusion. The crash of 1987 was blamed on portfolio insurance, which has the same potential effect as trailing stops. Personally I believe that the chairman is falling victim...

Yes, It is possible. Real Time Idea's for "This Market"

Toni, can I make a suggestion? could you simply provide a link to Farley's website rather than cut/pasting your commentary plus all the different graphs? Just thought it would be simpler and easier for you. :)

...it also explains why he likes to pump light volume shares. Imagine even half of those members going with his signal with 1000 shares?

    Using Oz Scans

Ofcourse, it is hindsight as I didn't watch GNTA today as it happened....but I am always leery of going long a stock that gaps up without breaking up and out of its HOD. The next thing I noticed was that the volume dried up right after the open and except for the spike at 10:09am there was no...

    Waxie

What I can't understand is why seemingly legit guys like TraderMike (from www.timingwallstreet.com) seem to like Oilie, um, I mean Waxie. btw I flipped though Waxie's book. It must be the biggest misuse of a tree I have ever witnessed.

    Best and Worst CNBC Commercials

My favorite Ameritrade was the one where Stuart's boss asks him to come in and help him hang himself. Oh wait, they never aired that! :D

    Todd Harrison is returning soon...

patefern, could you please put up Todd's last column (the one which RM would not put up) Thanks. The way they handled Doug Kass's departure was also very weird. At first he was a regular contributor and mentioned that he was about to put up a column about his short position in housing. And...

    Todd Harrison is returning soon...

Actually, I'm pretty sure Todd left before Sept 11th. Before he signed off he said that he was having a tough time doing both the real time journal and being head trader. In any case the website is registered to Todd Harrison & Associates...which leads me wonder: if he is coming back why is...

    Intraday/Swing Plays

Tony, that is the "bull market" target and as far as I can tell neither the general indices nor MRK are in a bull market right now. Just curious why you chose that as your target rather than the "bear market" target. Also the BB were pretty squeezed together on the MRK trade...I guess what...

Elder's new book..rehash or new stuff?

Haven't read it but when I read this on the Editorial Reviews section in amazon.com: "Dr. Elder takes readers from the fundamentals to the secrets of being a successful trader—identifying new, little known indicators that can lead to huge profits." ...my BS alarm goes off.

    DaytraderDave's Trading Log

I think the difference between the two is that for the first you have and intention to put on a certain size trade. Let say 5000. But you take 1000 share nibbles at a time. Whereas I interpret avg. down as a trader/investor hoping and wishing that by lowering their adjusted cost base they...

    IB Level 2 Fee

RealTick's Level II is provided for $50 more than the RT Pro. They have 3 levels Analyst (150), Pro (200), Pro Plus (250). What I don't understand is why IB insists on charging for exchange data. I use IB as an execution system and not for data/charting. Yet I am charged for quotes twice...

    Shorting OTC:BB stocks

Are BB stocks shorted the same way as a NNM or NYSE listed stock? The reason I ask is that there are a lot of times that I want to short stocks that are basically turds but simply can't get them (not there to borrow). Is this because they are BB or is it because my broker's short list is...
