    Multi Monitor Video Card

The T-3400 comes with the Nvidia NVS 290 x16. In their specifications they say that if you want 4 monitors, you can use the Nvidia NVS 290 x1 PCIe card. About $150. I don't get the difference between x1 and x16....don't understand the nomenclature. By the way, is there any reason to...

    Multi Monitor Video Card

Gnome: Thanks for pointing me in the Vostro direction. It does have the WinXP option. I'm assuming that I could continue to use my Matrox video card provided I took the XP option. Is that correct? As an aside, do think the Vostro will function well as a trading type machine? OldTrader

    Multi Monitor Video Card

Gotcha. And try as I might I can't find a computer that doesn't force Vista on me. And I did read an article about needing the same video cards when operating Vista. Assuming I had the 512 MB Nividia Geforce 8800, what else do I need to run 4 monitors? OldTrader

    Multi Monitor Video Card

Several years ago I installed a Matrox G200 MMS video card in an older Dell Computer, to operate 4 monitors. It has worked well. I'm just getting started in upgrading my computer. Will probably get a new Dell. I'm wondering when I do whether I can re-install the Matrox G200 MMS video card...

    IB Limits Help

ButtonTrader (a frontend for TWS) enables you to set a variety of risk settings. For instance, you can set max loss per single future, maximum loss in futures, max loss in specific stock, max loss in all stocks, and total loss per day. There's more, but this gives you an idea of how...

    CITI cuts dividend--they lied

It's been all over the Street that the dividend would be cut. In fact, the guess was 50%, not 40%. So actually, it was better than expected. Where you been? OldTrader

    Augment Trading with Real Estate

I've bought real estate over the years. Primarily houses and small apt buildings. I thought it would stabilize the trading income. It has done that. Although I gotta tell you that it was much more profitable than I ever thought it would be. At this point we own a number of properties free...

Is IB that good or that bad?

I would imagine if you took a poll, that the vast majority of traders here use IB. What that means is that anything IB related is going to get a tremendous amount of discussion. Some of that discussion is informed, alot of it isn't. Some of the problems are rooted in the fact that some of...

    Pabst's Blue Ribbon Trades

If you post your trade after the close, no one else is able to make the trade if they chose to. So if no one else is able to duplicate the trade, then I begin to wonder what is the point of posting it to begin with. Frankly I wouldn't even have thought you would have had to ask anyone what...

    Pabst's Blue Ribbon Trades

I guess I'm confused. If you post it after the market closed, I can't trade it. So what do you want from me? Applause? Because if I can't trade it, what other interest would I have? OldTrader

I'm with you. I want to see a post where the price is where my post says it is, at a time when I can make the trade too. Otherwise who cares? Posting after the close doesn't hold water. OldTrader

67 Trades. 2 contracts per trade. $1200 net.

I think you know the problem already. You're overtrading. What happens is you take plenty of quick profits which add up as long as you're mostly right. And you might be mostly right, especially if you hold your losers a little too long. But what happens is that when the time comes to lose...
